Don' t do it. Just traded the wife's 2017 460 for a 2013 200. The GX is a cheap downgrade in comparison. Outside of the powertrain, I wouldn't give the GX to my third cousin.

Why wouldn’t it play nice? Mine does. I have the JW tire carrier on the back now, as well. The rear door of the GX is one of my hang ups as is the spare tire carrier. I have a One Up bike rack that would not play nice with the swing out door and I absolutely would be putting 33’s on one but with no where to put a spare and having a rear door not really intended to support a extra tire it’s a bit of a turn off.
Pred grill is another thing I’m more cold than hot on. Yes you can somewhat mitigate with a bumper from CBI or Victory but I don’t really want to cut into a brand new Lexus. IMO the 200 LC (not the LX) is the better looking vehicle.

Yes, yes we can.Can we name it inspector gadgx?
Please?
Yes, yes we can.
I haven't been able to test it because all of the GX's I have looked at have not had a receiver installed. I was concerned that the door would swing out into the rack. Why wouldn’t it play nice? Mine does. I have the JW tire carrier on the back now, as well.

I can open the door 100%, but you need the rakattach as well.I haven't been able to test it because all of the GX's I have looked at have not had a receiver installed. I was concerned that the door would swing out into the rack.
How far can you open the rear door with the rack on? Does it clear? On my 4Runner the hatch clears even with a bike on the rack. (Rack has to be tilted down of course)
Other than towing and slightly more interior space I don’t see where the LX is more capable. The GX (a properly equipped one that is) is better in most situations off road.Seems to be the common theme of late. That some owners are not really taking advantage the greater capability or capacity of the cruiser. There are other great options in that case. As much as I like the GX, I don't think I could make that switch.
I don't disagree at all. The GX is an extremely solid platform in its own right without qualification. My parents have one that I've driven for years. I have a buddy with one that I helped him lift, that also trail rides with the group. The tidier dimensions and agility is absolutely advantage that I get to see play out regularly.Other than towing and slightly more interior space I don’t see where the LX is more capable. LC200 has better: Articulation. Ground clearance. Better approach and departure angles. Better protection underneath. Better crawl ratio. Better stability on side slopes.Other than towing and slightly more interior space I don’t see where the LX is more capable. Frame looks the same except 4runner has gas tank and transfer car skids. Maybe Lexus wanted to save weight? How similar are the Prado gx and 4Runner? As far as drivetrain and frame goes ?
Not sure on frame sure but I’d imagine it’s splitting hairs on any structural differences between the two. The GX is a LC Prado with a Lexus body kit. The 4Runner may be slightly unique being that it’s only built for the North American market. How similar are the Prado gx and 4Runner? As far as drivetrain and frame goes ?
This being said, comparing the GX to the 570 (or 200 series LC) that 5.7 is a step up from the 4.6 for sure. Much more responsive and fun to put your foot down. Not sure on frame sure but I’d imagine it’s splitting hairs on any structural differences between the two. Drivetrains are different between the two current generations. GX gets a V8 and 6 speed combo, full time 4WD with 4Lo and locking center diff along with KDSS.
4Runner gets a V6 and 5 speed. 2wd standard but can be optioned with 4WD hi/lo, full time 4WD, KDSS, and a rear locker depending on the specific trim.
GX wins on power train in my opinion. The 4Runner is anemic. GX is adequate and just an overall much nicer drive.
