I had a similar issue (gauges/displays go dark, etc) although not sure if the engine stopped. But it randomly did it more than a few times. I had both the dealer look it over and an independent shop when it was in for a few other things (transfer case reseal, etc). Both found nothing and the dealer suggested replacing the center display ($3K+). Then it wouldn't start or even lock the doors when sitting in a parking lot. So I started digging in and it was a very simple fix. The battery was loose on the tray AND the battery terminals were loose. Tightened it all down and no issues since. This of course leaves me wondering what sort of troubleshooting the dealer and indy shop did...

My similar issue was caused by the old style of Slee battery extensions from the group 31 tray. A multimeter proved there was a bad connection. 13+ volts at the posts, but only 3+ volts at the back of the extensions despite being no visible external corrosion. I removed the clamps, saw the spots that had probably been causing the issue, filed down both sides of the extensions and the clamps, and the voltage was perfect again.

Also ordered the Slee billet extensions and will swap despite those crazy prices 😬

Who knew there was some useful info on this obscure forum that I could have also learned from 🤔😉

This just happened to me.

I was driving and car 08lx turned off. Starter will turn over but it’s not firing

I believe my original issue was related to a bad negative battery terminal connection. Once I replaced the terminals, it seemed to resolve my issue. It's kind of interesting because everything seemed clean and tight. I never had any issues where the vehicle wouldn't start. My LX would just drop power then come back on or have no power at all. If it's cranking, you're likely good on the electrical side. My first suggestions would be to check and see if you are getting spark and fuel. Fuel gauges and sending units can go bad and indicate the vehicle has fuel when it's empty. I'd also suggest trying to pull codes and see if there is anything there.

Hopefully it's an easy fix!

I'm having the same issue - our 2013 LX570 lost power intermittently while wife was driving yesterday, happened a few times (entertainment system turns off and then back on - plus all the lights reset as if the car is being restarted). I was out of town for work but just had it towed to local shop who wanted to replace battery/alternator for $2100 (wtf!). They would not budge on that price. Called dealer, they were around $1200. Had it towed back home so i could reassess. Battery was dead as of this morning, managed to get it jumped to start but battery appears to be bad (although less than 20 months old - Duracell Gold). Vehicle does not sit too long. In SD, CA so no major weather factors. Just starting to fully diagnose. Wife is understandably freaked out (driving with 1-yr old twin babies in back ,etc). Sorry for long-winded story but just such a freak issue on a vehicle that has always been our most reliable!

@LivingFreeSD - sorry to hear you're having this issue. Believe me, I understand it's scary on such a reliable vehicle. I think I can finally narrow my issue down to a bad battery terminal. I didn't suspect it at first but after I changed them out, I haven't had the issue since and it's been almost 5 years now. I would suggest checking those first. The dead battery is interesting and that could potentially be alternator related. Hopefully it's an easy fix and you can get it resolved soon. Here are the terminals I switched to from amazon https://a.co/d/44m4n01

Good advice to check over the terminals, etc. Like I said earlier in this thread, I too had the same issue on my 2013 LX back in 2017 and it turned out to be bad connections at the battery along with a loose battery. Over the past 2 years, I started struggling with some sort of battery drain - if I let it sit for 5 days the truck wouldn't unlock, dead. Sometimes the battery needed 30 minutes on the trickle charger or just a jump and it would roar back to life like nothing happened. Sometimes it would be down at 10v - 24 hours on the trickle charger would bring it back. I replaced the battery (thanks Costco) probably 5 times over the last two years. I have a spare battery on standby now...that's how bad it has been. I bought an Amp hound to look for any drain and found nothing. So at my wits end, I recently broke down and took it into a local shop to see if they could find anything wrong. Battery, ok. Alternator, ok. Starter, ok. Parasitic drain, nothing abnormal. Battery terminal, slightly loose? Ouch. Maybe on the latest battery swap I didn't get it right? I had cleaned the terminals so many times too. Dunno but I did let it sit for 5 days last week and it fired right up. We'll see. The truck runs great aside from this one kinda major thing...
