LX 570 air filter question...

I went to my local Toyota dealership to pick up an air filter for my 2013 LX 570. I thought the air filter would be the same as a Land Cruiser or Tundra, but the parts guy told me its a completely different part number. Is there a difference in size and shape than a 200 series Land Cruiser?

I bought an extra air filter for my 2014 Land Cruiser and sold the truck before I needed to replace the air filter again. I now have an 08 LX 570, and the air filter was exactly the same when I replaced it. Even if one is a Lexus part number and one is a Toyota part number, the filter most definitely fits.

When I was baselining mine last spring, no dealer in my area had an air filter element in stock, they claimed the tundra was different. Had to special order. Part number was 17801-38030 BTW. Amazon has them now.

They indeed have different part numbers (so the dealer isn't lying) but the Toyota filter does fit in the LX. It's exactly the same shape I'm not sure whether the filtering element is the same or not. I'm currently running a Toyota filter in mine.

You can't go into a Lexus Dealer and ask for a Toyota parts or vise versa, even when that part is the same (most are). They don't have each others software, so can't even look up. Just order as if it's their model.

Oh I get ya. I was ordering a bunch of little stuff at the same time so it didn't really matter to me, I wasn't in the mood to argue. I thought it was odd too. But this is why people are getting tired of dealing with the parts counters and Amazon will take over.
