Hey guys.

Just a quick question about my rear shackles. As far as I know, all my suspension is stock, but the ride is absolutely horrible. Im planning on replacing the shocks in the next few weeks, but I've noticed my rear shackles are dead vertical. My rig's a LWB ute and I'm kinda wondering if maybe that's how they should be with no load on the back? Any advice or pics would be really appreciated.

Hi All:

Well, first off, don't expect a very plush ride on an old Land Cruiser! :grinpimp:

No, the rear shackles should not be "vertical" in orientation. A mild rake towards the rear is better.

How many leafs in the rear spring packs?

Regards,

Alan

If you drop 500 lbs in the back the ride will improve noticably. Try it.

Some people pull a leaf or three out, but then you lower your load capacity.

3 thicker on the bottom, 6 thinner on top. Not too worried about losing some load capacity as its more of a daily driver than anything.

Hi All:

Consider removing 3 of those thinner leafs from the rear spring packs. Specifically, like the the #3, 4, & 5 thin leafs from the top of the spring pack.

You might loose a small amount of lift, but the reduction in spring rate should result is a bit better ride quality.

Good luck!

Alan
