Been lurking here for along time, with lots of help from this board, came up with this.

Here's some pics of my money pit...
Interior 2 GPS's, Garmin for on road, Lowrance baja 540c for off road.

Belly pan. Sorry for upsidedown pic.

Sweet. I am sure that the neighbors in the campground like those camping speakers. Nothing like some peace and quite powered by dual bateries.

I would welcome you but I have not been around long enough to use the official welcome sign language.

Nice 60 T-bone! Did you do the fab work yourself?
Butt

Hey Chuck, Thanks. AJ at Bent up did the sliders and rear bumper. A close friend of mine did the belly pan.

Beatiful rig. Love the belly pan, a true work of fab art. Any more pics of the rear bumper? What is the oil cooler in front of the ac condenser for? Power steering?

That's pretty sweet, I even like the poo brown. :D

Can't go far enough to like the poo brown but I really like the body armor pieces. Very nice bumper, sliders, nice stereo, and a good looking rig overall, as to the brown . . . sorry but I remain a "card totten" member of the Silver Cruisers Unite crowd!:steer:

Hey Smkymntn, Thanks for the kind words. The cooler in front of the condenser is a power steering cooler from Man-A-Fre. Here's a pic of birtha butt. (rear bumper)

hey, how did you do the dual battery set up?

is it all powered by the Mean Green? is there another voltage regulator in there somewhere?

I also like the transfer protector. are you not worried about the oil pan, as well?

I am also not a huge fan of the doodoo brown, however your looks as polished as it can get! nice shine!

It's all powered by the Mean Green. I simply connected the batts in parallel so the electrical system see's it as one very powerful battery. I also fabbed an 8 guage wire from the alternator directly to the batteries. I didn't want the factory 12 guage wire turning into a fusable link when I install my winch soon. No other voltage regulators other then the one on the alternator itself.

I too was not fond of the poo brown. It was my least favorite color. But when I bought it 7 years ago, I didn't have a great selection of rust free, well maintained, clean 60's out there to choose from that met my standards. That is the original 25 year old factory paint so I figured I could live with it in all it's vintage glory. It has however grown on me as I rarely see 60's on the road, much less ones of that color.

The oil pan is tucked way up there. Plus there's a factory skid plate already welded to it. There is almost no way a rock could ever hit it. The axle is a good foot below it and would hit long before the pan would. So I never worry about it.

as far as the dual battery setup, do you have any extra fuseable links, or an extra fuse box, to run all of the extra accessories?

or do you just run all the accessories out of the regular fuse box? are some connected directly to the second battery?

i want to do this dual setup, but am also considering using the smog pump location after desmog to add a second Hilux alternator/volt reg and battery setup...

does the Mean Green charge at 13.8 volts with a bunch of accessories running? i have heard good things about their alts...

if you feel like it, could you get some photos of your alt fab/dual setup?

And I thought my BJ60 was the only poo brown wagon named Brown Cow :).

Nice truck!

Was your rig in 4WD Toyota Owner in the past couple of years? Looks familiar. Great looking rig and well built.

TK

Yep, it was in the May/June 07' issue. Thanks!

I have one extra fusable link in the jumper wire I put directly from the alt to the battries. There are only two wires feeding from the alt, the factory one which already has a fusable link in it, then the one I made to the batts for high draw items.

The high draw items such as lights, amplifiers, and soon to be winch are connected straight to the battries. Other items like the deck, ipod, and CB, are low draw items and connected to the factory accessory wires. I ran my own constant power to the GPS's as I didnt want them turning off with the key. I installed a switch in the little plug on the dash underneith the keys for those.

I didn't take any pics of the instalation as it really wasn't that complex. Had a friend (same guy who did the belly pan) fab me up a tray. Then relocated the radiator overflow bottle above the charcoal can using a simple L shaped peice of aluminum stock. I used factory Toyota batt tiedowns out of a totaled 4runner to hold it in place. The nuts are already welded in place from Toyota on the other side of the radiator for the tie down.

I don't know much about a duel alternator set up. But the Mean Green puts out 14.4V when cold and 13.6V when warmed up according to my Lowrance GPS. The lowest I ever recall seeing it read was 13.1. That was at idle with all four 55watt Hella lights on, high beams, and 800watts of amplifiers at close to max.
