I guess my 80 does that also. Not so much as a "lurch" as it is more like slight but irritating back and forth momentum whenever I stop the vehicle and shift into park. I can be at a dead stop in my drive way (it's flat - I live in Florida ) and I get "back-n-forth" motion until it works itself out. Make sense?
Mine roll's a little when I put it in park, But I think its the drivetrain kind of taking up slack due to wear/milage...The sort, I ALWAYS use the parking brake, This will keep it from rolling.
Good luck
I have this roll as well, and mine is not as pronounced as 1 ft. or so, but it does roll forward about 6 inches or so, and mine is accompanied by a click sound that I can feel in the auto. shift handle as well.
This began happening and became more pronounced after my front end job with brake job. Since then I've gotten use to it...but maybe I should be worried??
Mine does this as well I always thought it was the automatic tranny locking itself into park?
mine has always done this since I bought it, should I be worried??
As a safety measure, always apply the handbrake first before you release your foot of the brake pedal after you put the vehicle in Park. Any car I have driven and after I park them I automatically apply the handbrake, there is always a little surge or lurching when you release your brake pedal due to the pressure being held by the disk brake thus creating a bit of momentum.
Good advice on the handbrake. With my wife driving, I've almost had my foot run over a couple times when I hopped out quickly and starting removing my son from his carseat.
