Everytime I add this stuff its gives me a P401 code in about 3-4 days ish.

When its all out of tank, code is gone

Anybody else have this issue....weird, I know, right...

I noticed this as well.
When I first bought my LC I used Lucas in the first couple of tanks. Got the code, cleared the code, got the code, cleared the code.
Stopped using Lucas, stopped getting the code.
I'm in Colorado and run 85 octane.

P401 is insufficient egr flow. Is that when the temp sensor on egr notices that the temp of the exhaust going through the egr has gone down? That is, if the egr valve is shut or not open very far, there will be no or very little flow of hot exhaust.

Could the exhaust be cooled by the fuel treatment or could it be that the fuel treatment is actually cleaning carbon from combustion chamber and when the egr valve opens, carbon is getting deposited on the temp sensor fouling it out.

I cant see that the fuel treatment would have any affect on vacuum or reduce vacuum.

Im wondering about this as well......

Tell the doc, it hurts when I do this, his reply, don't do that!:hillbilly:

Why would you put that swill in your rig?

You should only need 91 octane if you are running a super charger or a turbo on your rig.

I notice more miles per tank and a bit more power in the elevation...luv me some 91 ;)

I use Techron injector cleaner occasionally and it does not do that. In fact, I used it after a got the code for a bit and it did not come back. I was hoping that cleaning things up might help.

I got the code only after using Techron for the first time (coincidentally it also temporarily fixed my constant low fuel light for a while which has now returned). I've not been able to get rid of the P401 code since. After finding this post and don't think it's the brand of cleaner. I do think there something to this being a possible cause for the issue since it's documented happening multiple times. Think my air temp sensor by the EGR could be compromised? Is that a source that would set off the p401?

P0401...CLOGS!

I just came across this post amidst all the p401 code threads. I had mine start setting off the code right after adding Techron fuel system cleaner for the first time (as several others he had happen with fuel cleaners of multiple brands). Due to the timing it seemed like either it would of either moved some deposits to create a blockage or fouled a sensor. Going through some of the common fixes (before finding this thread) I tried the charcoal canister carbon refill and the Dorman VSC solenoid with no improvement. After reading this I found that cleaning out the middle port on top of the throttle body as posted seems to have fixed my problem (I tried the port by the air temp sensor first with no changes). I just went from Cincinnati to Gatlinburg, four wheeling on the "Hurricane Creek" trail up to Max Patch NC, drove around the city and mountains all week and only had the code come on once just after arriving on the original trip down. Reset it, did all the driving and back home with no other issues (so I might need to clean it a lititle more). This is the first time I've not had the code come on for more then 20 miles since it started so very certain this is the problem area for my issue. I just used a short length of rigid single strand stainless steel wire we use for chimney liners and a needle nose pliers kept close to the opening to force it into the port and get it to break through. I might try adding some intake cleaner into the port to try and clear it out better as well after the initial result.
