I have an LSD that i got with my cruiser when I got it that i either need to install or sell. im sick of tripping over it and need to use it or sell it. my build is gunna be reaaaaal slow cause i just got back from my honeymoon and i have no cash. i know if i sold it i wouldn't get much for it. worth it to put it in for now tell i have more cash for a real locker and some armor? if put it in which would i benifit most from front or back? i don't get out to play much lately but i ultimately intend for her to be a street legal go anywhere vehice. but in the mean time shell be a weekend wheeler and get me to and from hunting and camping.

PM me if you want to sell the LSD ...

I ain't local, but I'm in CA

Since you already have it, stick in your rear and see how you like it (yes I know how that sounds). The rear diff R&R isn't too hard.

thats probly what ill end up doing I've posted the thing for sale a couple times and had no luck i guess no body wants LSD these days... at least then when I have some money and get to start building I wont feel as bad about giving away a used LSD vs. a brand spanken new one.

can any one confirm this: i found the notes i took when talking to the po of my truck and he seemed to think the front might have a factory LSD. is this true or at least a possibility? if so how would i find this out?

Don't know of any fastory LSD being imported in US 60 series. The LX470 had them in 98 and 99.
Also if it's a OEM LSD it wouldn't fit the rear axle unless you have a full floater.

Check the front diff to see if there is a sticker for special oil for LSD. See what the axle does in loose gravel. That work for my on one of my FJ25 to see if it had a Torsen in the front.

yeah ill hafta do the gravel or mud test once im legal and back on the road again.

and the one i'll probly be putting in isn't factory its an auburn

just put it on stands, you'll be able to tell by spinning wheels by hand what is or isn't in there. front axles will obviously need the hubs locked.
lsd's have their place, rocks are not it, but if you keep alll teh wheels on the ground 90% of the time they do fine.

i had an auburn lsd in the rear of a hilux. 100,000 miles later it was still dragging the inside tire around paved corners. it lived between 33's teh whole time. auburns are good units.
i'd half heartedly like to find one for the 60 myself.

LSD

I have had lockers in the front and rear on one cruiser and it was wonderful in rocks and mud. A nightmare on the street. On my current project BT60 am putting locker in the rear and LSD in the front. Main reason is street, snow, and sidehill stability in off camber situations with my big foot on the go pedel I have found it works for me in 90 percent of the situations.
