LS1/sm465 flywheel bolts

So I finally found my flywheel (2000 camaro LS1) and clutch (sm465)combo, but nothing came with bolts to fasten the clutch to the flywheel.

I found class 10.9 10x1.5 bolts at my local hardware store, but don’t want to use them if there is something better.

Anyone have any suggestions for bolts?

You don't want to scrimp on quality here as well as the bolts for the flywheel to crank. ARP are the best bolts you can buy.

Are the stock flexplate bolts fine to use or are they one time use fasteners?

They may be too short due to the different thickness of the flexplate vs. a flywheel. Cheap insurance to buy new bolts.

When I did my conversion I used all ARP bolts. No problems then or now. Summit is great and if you have questions tech support is good.
ARP fasteners are pretty much used by all the major engine builders.

What’s your setup?

SBC 350, NV4500 trans, centerforce flywheel, pressure plate and disc. If I remember correctly the flywheel is 168 tooth.

Nice! The LS1 flywheel is 168 tooth too. It allows me to use the older style disc and pressure plate with off the shelf parts. I have about $250 into the whole setup so far, not including the hardware. When I was getting info from aftermarket clutch sources the price tag was $1000.

Well I got my pressure plate bolts today. Sure wish I’d ordered the flywheel bolts at the same time to save on shipping DOH!

Got back from a short road job to find these by my back door in Summit box #2.

Three of the six bolt holes in the pressure plate are too small for the LS 10mm bolts. I think they’re 3/8” clearance holes.

I’m not at all suprized as the flywheel is metric and the pressure plate is sae.
