In theory, yes. In real world practice... I have been hearing about a lot of guys running them in SF axles and haven't heard of any failures yet...?

You've got a tad bit more torque than I, and a manual tranny to cause a bit more damage. But I reckon with 2 years on 37s and chains, I should be alright for about a year on 38's no chains.

Sure. I've broken a couple of axles with 4.88s and 42 inch Swampers. But I was talking about the ring and pinion gears suffering due to the grinding of the teeth to fit the pinion shaft into the carrier with the SF setup.

Ain't the best, but here are some pictures from when we regeared and ARB'd a '91 FJ80. Those are 4.88s. You pretty much remove just enough to get the pin past the ring.

But I don't like the Ring grind .. in my case 4.56 choose grind the cross pin.

That was my first axle broke testing my turbo intercooler setup burning tires in the garage ..

If I broke again I choose poly performance axles .. for sure.

It seems like grinding the cross pin would be the best option. Why not grind it instead of the gears, or grind a little off of both instead of digging into the gears so much? Am I missing something?

alkaline, you doing these 5.29's anytime soon? I'd like to hear feedback since I'm probably doing 4.88's if not 5.29's at some point.

It'll be june before anything happens, $150 every 2 weeks barely puts fuel in the thing, much less get me any upgrades

I've heard 5.71's tossed around. Though I've actually never seen them I could have sworn I heard of people who ran them.

there are 5.71's for the mini trucks, but nothing lower than 5.29's for LC axles. that i know of.
