Hi Friends,

This is my first post and it is really nice to post in a forum full of Prado 90 enthusiasts. I own a 90 series prado 3.4 v6 in Abudhabi. Recently it developed an issue with auto gear lever. The lever is really loose, I mean when shifting from P to N to R to D, the lever just runs around, it is loose. It shift correctly though. Do you think this is due to worn out shifter bushings? Can someone throw some light on this? Any idea how to repair this?

Regards,

Mines a manual so I'm not much help but just wanted to say welcome. Pretty quiet here but there are a few regulars.

Also, the Trans is the same as the 4runner of similar year, so if you don't find help here, check the 4Runner forum.

Cheers
Phil
Thanks Phil , for your prompt reply. Will wait for comments from others too. Good to know that 4runner shares the same trans. Will check the 4runner forum.

Regards,
George.

Hi, George,

+1 on the bushings.

I have a '62 (it's an auto). My gear selector/shifter got very wobbly. Replaced the bushings and it tightened up like new. Sorry that I'm ignorant about your truck, but saw your post and thought I'd share. Maybe your bushings are ready to be replaced?

Take it easy.

Yeah it sounds like worn out shifter bushings- I had a 2nd gen 4runner and the auto shifter slopped all over and all my research indicated worn bushings. It’s a cheap place to start too- replace and if it doesn’t fix the issue you aren’t out a whole lot

"Timmy the tool man" on youtube has a detailed video on re-bushing the Gen 3 auto shifter - It would not be too different to the 90 series Prado

Hi, I think I may be having the same issue, just wondering what year your 90 is? And what part you ended up using to fix it?
