that does not look too bad.

Simon,
looks like the inner apron and core support are shot and if I am not mistaken the ds frt door took some damage. The problem isnt the repairs they would not be that bad but the market is so soft that it does not make sense to fix them since you have no real ( for insurance purposes) viable options of alternative parts. the oem sheet metal aint cheep.

Dave interesting, I guess a 3rd party could always get used body metal from a wrecked 80. I am wondering if a 60 or 40 series with equivalent damage would end up in a boneyard. I kind of suspect not, whether or not the insurance co wrote it off. Seems to me that it is a supply situation not a value situation since you would get a better truck once you did the work to the 80. I guess there are still lots of cheap 3FE 80's out there. Once they get a little scarcer, this would get repaired.

A 60 would be totalled for sure. having taken on the same amount of damage. a 40 maybe not but that has more to do wiht how the aprona nd core support are attached together than anything else. the fornt end of these is a base unibody structure sat on top of a ladder fame. the 60 has unibody as well but the 40 does not have it to the same degree. as far as the values of the vehicles go its always a gamble. totally depends on how many are available.

FWIW I still would of considered keeping it. I would have loved the rt rear tail light out of it. Hell if it was closer I would have tried for the motor out of it to start rebuilding.
