Wanted Looking to buy an FJ40

Looking for an FJ-40 in nice condition in stock paint color. The less modified, the better. I would prefer a 4 speed, 2F engine in great running shape, ambulance doors, hard top. These are just preferences, not absolute wants so if you have a 40 you think fits what I'm looking for, shoot me a PM. I do not want a trailer queen, this will be a daily driver for me. Budget is not set at any specific amount per-se--I am willing to pay a fair price for what I am looking for.

Looks like you and I (and everyone here) are searching for the same truck. I have a few trucks that fit most of this but they are High 30's to high $40's. I also have a 78 that is a great driver with great history but it has a little rust, Weber carb and diamond plate and should high teens low 20's. Depends on what I think it needs when i get it here. They can all be seen at lcnation.com

Best of Luck finding the Cruiser.

Thanks G. I know its a wish list that is common to most if not all who would like a Land Cruiser. I have to keep my fingers crossed that my rig will come along. I am fortunate to have found this forum and to be blessed with patience, time and the belief that I'll be in the right place at the right time for my rig. If it is possible for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler with 10,000 miles to spontaneously catch on fire going down a freeway, it is possible for me to find my dream Land Cruiser--I guess I'm an eternal optimist. :)

@MadMace
Dean, if you're looking for a 43 or 45 talk to @aljollano 40's are around, you just have to be diligent in searching (sometimes for a long time).

My 40 doesn't have a/c, but @mmw68 is in Austin and has access to vintage air units for cruisers.

I have a very nice 76 FJ40 but not a stock color. It has a SOA on 35’s with a stock 2F and 4sp, PS, new interior consisting with dash, seats and head liner. No rust. This baby runs perfect. Just replaced all of the smog equipment to the tune of $4k. Everything works. Newer radiator, brakes with winch. Over $35k invested in a 7 yr build. This goes well off-road or as a daily driver. Both axles rebuilt and a Spartan rear locker. Asking $35k obo. In So. Cal.

Still in the market for an FJ40. I've seen some beautiful 40s but haven't found the right one yet. I'm most interested in a "survivor"...stock paint, minimal modifications, etc.

If your on the fence about selling, at least send me a PM and some pictures so we can discuss a fair price that would get you off that fence.

Im in the same position as you sir. Gotta sit tight and wait on the right one. It sucks seeing everybodies bad ass 40's and not having one.

Couldn't agree more, patience is very important in this arena. You can easily get burned. I have met some really cool people through this forum--all very willing to help. As I wait to find the right one, I am learning more and meeting new people, so it's not all bad--glass half full kinda' thing.

Good luck in your search!

I’d be more than happy to provide pictures or whatever you need. Let me know how to you as I’m not familiar with how to do it on this forum.

Also, feel free to contact landcrusher909, he is a frequent writer on this forum and is held in high regard. He is very familiar with this FJ40 and can provide you with some helpful advice

I have a 1977 daily driver, about 13,000 miles since the 2F engine rebuilt, No rust, factory mat in front, no leaks, every thing works except rear heater core has leak (bypassed), all body rubber replaced with oem, old man emu 2 in. lift, new windshield, tuffy console, made the cover of TCT Magazine April 2015, awarded most original FJ40 at the Lone Star Land Cruiser Roundup 2015 $35k

This is not currently for sale but will be soon.

Beige 79. No PS or AC. Same owner since 1981. Original paint, 55k miles. Carb replaced with a Rochester but original parts retained and included, carb, smog gear, air cleaner, etc.

All upholstery, headliner and dash pad original. One tear on drivers seat. A little rust in the rear quarters and corners of the rear cargo area but not too bad. The truck has been garaged.

Truck was given the Ziebart treatment long ago and need to have a good cleaning under the hood where rust proofing spray has collected a lot of dirt and grime on the firewall.

Rear fenders have flares but are not cut. Flares attached from below through the lip.

Original wheels come with. - will be priced under $25k.

1979 FJ40

Greg
