Just to give a little more back ground about what i am looking for when i started this thread. I travel for work for 6 months at a time. When i role out i carry a pretty complete tool set. Not so much for what i will need on the road but because i don't know what i will need over the next 6 months. That includes working on things other than the cruiser. I basically use 3 small tool boxes and one tool bag. One tool box is nothing but sockets, full sets of 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 sizes, 34mm? and 52MM? (cant remember the exact size), extension and adapters and deep sockets including a extra 1/2 ratchet in case one breaks. One tool box with screw drives and all "pliers". That includes, channel locks, needle nose, snap ring pliers, wire cutters, all 3 sizes vice grips. Then one longer box of long and misc items including torque wrench, hammers, punches, impact screw driver, micrometer, rear hub tool, bag of misc "tubes of goo" like FIPG, lock tight, super glue, silicone lube, dielectric grease, JB weld and other misc tools. Then i also have a small bag of power tools that has a Dewalt drill, drill bits, taps and easy outs, Dewalt work light and dremal. Mostly this is all because i like working on stuff over the 6 months of travel. If i am going on a remote long trail i might throw it all in the truck just because it is all packed up.
The 80 is my daily driver and i dont carry all that all the time. If i am just driving around a big city like Atlanta all i really carry is a spare and breaker bar. That and a AAA card.
What i am looking for is the in between. When i am out in WY and MT AAA does not mean s*** with out cell coverage. So even tooling around on road or light forestry roads i need a small but complete tool set. I recently took a 1800 mile road trip from Atlanta to Key West (got the Cruiser to the Southern most point in the US). Since it s well populated i carried smaller tool kit. That trip made me think about making a small but complete tool kit. Hence this thread.
