I'm looking for an FJ25 for a good friend of mine's Dad. He is a long-time custom car builder & race car driver, whom has let me us his shop for years. I build my current my current Toyota Mini there, along with may other projects.

His dad bought an FJ25 new, in 1958, in Willows, CA. Then sold it in the mid-60's to get a newer FJ40. I'd love to track down the FJ25 for him to take for a drive, and bring back old memories.

So as for my question: does anyone have any idea how to track down this truck? Anyone know where it is?

I appreciate any, and all help.

Any pictures of it...or old registrations laying around to show a vin number?

Check the "Count the 25" thread. Unfortunately if it still exists (excellent chance) it probably doesn't look the same as it did 40-50 years ago. Like Dean said a vin or picture would help.

If he has any tales to tell that would be great if you share. The early dealership workings are a mystery.

Also can you get him to post a photo of it back in the mid 60's, definatly color will help. A name might help also. Thank's, John

There was one near willows a while back being used as a farm truck, dint know if it there still but I have a pic of it, it was green but I think it was white originally, not sure though!

I'd love to see a picture of it.

To the best of my knowledge there isn't a picture of this truck, but I'll start digging.

No pictures and no VIN aren't going to help. But if he did really buy it in 58 only those VIN that start with 8 on the count the 25 thread could be it. Another clue that might help is it a hard top or soft top. Chances are it was soft top in CA. Plus most FJ25s were soft tops but it seems Cruiser_Nerd had a 58 hard top. Jim (Cruiser_Nerd) I think posted at one time that only one FJ25 was imported in 58. That one Toyota used in a ad in 71 asking how long would it last. I don't think Toyota has real records from that than so they may have sold more. You might spent some time in this thread https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj25-owners-group/438862-fj2x-registry.html and figure which ones are 58 in in the count thread. Then show the pictures to your friend's dad and see if he recognizes any of them. There is a good chance even if you find it it may not even be driveable. I can tell you it wouldn't be one of mine, they are all 1960 production dates.

I do know it was a fst, and it had the early rounded speedo,I was shocked when I saw the speedo, and at the time had never seen one before, but it seems as if it could be a 58? did 59's have the real early speedo?I believe the face of it was white? Its been about 10 years.I could probably still find it and it couild still be on the farm, they really loved it.when we were there, the guy asked us if we wanted some doors!!!! Yup they were the original soft doors for the 25, Georg ( orange45) ended up with them,I believe they ended up in the hands of a 25 owner.I will dig up the pic of it and post it! Sure wish had those doors now...
