Hi Guys - I'm looking for a great mechanic near my place in the NYC Suburbs. (+/- 100 miles)

Getting a stock '94 FJ80 in a couple weeks. Looking for someone excellent and fairly-priced to install an OME lift, maybe rock guards, and a couple smaller mods. I considered doing it myself, but I'd feel safer going to someone where it's not their first rodeo.

Any recommendations? Gratefully yours,
- Spencer

You could try dropping a PM to Onur and see if he could assist you or make a recommendation. He is near Kerhonkson, NY and can provide excellent service and price is very fair if you the value the knowledge available, esp more so when you get into the factory systems and pieces vs aftermarket bolt on goodies most anyone can wrench on. I’d be contacting him for a good solid baseline over gadgets first.

Then chime in with Gotham city clubhouse and meet some folks who can help you spend your money and maybe bolt on some goodies for beer and pizza as well.

welcome.

Thanks Jason.

Happy to help, @spencerswagu

Drop me a line.

I'm in the Hudson Valley.

Currently booked till about mid-January.

Depending on what you need, you could reach out to the Long Island members of GCLC.

There are other folks in Jersey that have had good luck with some mechanics. Again, it depends on what you need to have done.
Jon, helping my brother with his 2016 GX460. Transmission likely needs replacing but he can’t find a good mechanic for something like this.

Anybody shops Westchester Co or the general vicinity?

Reach out to Jared at Churchill Classics in Orange County. Tell him Onur sent you.
Thanks so much for this. He’s going to call first thing in the morning. It’s going to be costly no matter what; least we can do is ensure we’re paying a trustworthy shop to do good work.
