Hello,

Santa Claus just brought me a almost new Toyota PTO Winch for my 1980 BJ40 (4 Speed)

The problem here on Tenerife is that no one has got the parts to connect the winch.

Do you know any shop or any user in this Forum who might sell those parts?

The winch (last Photo) is complete but I need all the things from the first two photos.
Gearbox / Shift / Lever.

Rufst mal beim Diebo an, der dürft das haben......:hhmm:

What parts are you lacking? I can't tell from your pix, it looks to me like it's all there. Is that 2 different winches?

The first two pictures are only examples from an auction in the Netherlands, in the moment the bit is up to 2300 Dollar for the whole stuff

It´s only to see what I need.

I´ve got only the winch and nothing more.

A bargain from a friend, 280 Dollar.

do you have a split case transfer or single case? the PTO box is different either one can be made to work (so I've seen in writing) but if you need to source parts, might as well get the correct ones.

The top picture almost looks like it's from a 55 series or other than 40. thought the 40's used a one length of driveshaft and the bearing connects under the radiator., fairly close to the winch head.

Check "bull"s for sale ad a few weeks ago, he had pics of a complete PTO from a 40, it might help.

mounting the winch head on your frame, I beleive you need "wedges" or shims to bring the head level.

Is that 280 dollar, US funds?

Yes, ist was 200 Euro = 280 Dollar.

A bargain from a member of my family who knows a lot of people with Landcruiser (he is the pre-owner of mine)

I´ll have a look tomorrow which case I have.

The Mounting Hardware for the winch is complete , screws, wedges.

Here´s a picture from the cap at the gear box, difficult to look at without a hoist, almost broke my neck. The second photo shows the box I´ll need , Photo taken from the aution in the Netherlands ( Bit is around 670 Dollar for the Box in the moment..... grazy)

Some of the MUD supporting vendors sell PTO winch parts. Check with Spector Off Road (Specter Off-Road, Inc.-Landcruiser Parts & Accessories) or G&S cruiser parts (G&S Cruiser Parts). You should also pull the PTO cover plate off your transfer case and make sure you have the PTO gear in your transfer case. I don't know about the 40 series, but not all the 60 series come with the gear installed.

@mbb

thanks for your advice. I`ll try to open the cap but it will be very exhausting for an old man like my to corkscrew my bones to reach the bolts without a car lift.

drop the skid plate, 6 bolts, then you might need to drain some oil out of the transfer case, then remove the bolts on the side cover.

MAKE SURE YOU CAN GET THE TRANFER FILL PLUG LOOSE FIRST BEFORE DRAINING OIL.

I''ll strongly second 2mbb on making sure you have the PTO gear in the t-case before ordering a PTO drive from anyone. If you think you'd have a hard time dealing with the cover, that is nothing compared with installing the gear.

I have NO IDEA what it would cost to ship one of those to the Canary Islands. Thanks for considering me anyways.:)

A German guy told me in a Forum that I´ll also have to search for a kind of clamp which will hold the shaft to the frame. Never heard about it before, never seen it on photos.
Do you have any infos about this?

As I recall, PTO gearboxes weight just over 27 lbs. Shipping to the Canary Islands (Spain) from the US is about $95 US using USPS international shipping. A PTO gear/spacer for the t-case is about 2 additional pounds.

It is not really a clamp. There is a front driveshaft that connects to the back of the winch. That short driveshaft (about 12 inches in length) is centered and mounted upon a bracket. The bracket is just below the radiator. I think it was stock on all the 40 series.

If it is absent, I suspect it would not be too hard to fabricate in order to use the stock driveshafts.

If you do not have stock driveshafts and are fabricating those to link your PTO to the winch, then a standard bearing pillowblock should be used. There are many varieties of pillowblocks.

Here is link with some pictures https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/220582-pto-winch.html
