Backstory : I just put my frp top back on my BJ74 and plan to renstall the doors shortly I weill no longer be able to load longer items in the back since I will also be reinstalling the rear seat so my son can ride with me as well.

I ordered 6 of the gamivit gutter mount towers with a plan to put two over the front doors and four over the rear doors. I want to install crossbars that I can mount to the towers so that I can put a few longer items usually some lumber and longer pieces of moulding up there.

I am also going to "borrow" trail tailors ideas of putting the rubber backed feet under the cross bar to spread load the weight across, so it is not all on the gutter rails.

Anyone know of good crossbars that can mount to gutter mounts?

In my experience FRP gutters are not suitable for weight-bearing mounts. My BJ74BJ74 rails were damaged by gutter mounts and it was very difficult to repair them.

My troopy has done dozens of prospecting trips with a roof rack and has suffered no deformation. I know the MWB gutters have less contact area but its really about how much load you put up there and how you drive, as well as tyre pressure and suspension.
I know that people have crossed the Simpson Desert with 2000 sand hills in MWB landcruisers with roof racks with no problems.
I wouldn't recommend that tyres or gerry cans be put up there, but I cant see a problem with roof top tents or camping/sleeping gear evenly loaded.
