Hi all. I know I can get one off spector, or some other places, but just thought I'd ask if anyone has, or knows of a place I could possibly get a roll bar or a full cage in the New England Area. I'm in CT. I wouldn't mind driving a few hours to get it if need be.

While I'm at it, bear with me but I am kinda new to all this - I have a 73 FJ40,which I was fortunate enough to pick up last year and I've wanted something like this basically since I was about 20 (which was a lonnnnng time ago :-) . This is the love of my life, next to my husband of course :-) but I will be honest, I used to be mechanically inclined but it's faded over the years (ALOT) So forgive me for asking dumb questions, but I know a lot of you are quite knowledgeable and don't mind sharing

My hard top has been fiberglassed on. We plan to cut it off carefully and hopefully salvage any brackets, if not we'll have to weld some back on. I'd like a summer soft top and definitely need roll bars, mostly because I have two kids riding in the jump seats. I found some seatbelts that can go on the jump seats , they mount to the top of the bench I guess, and one strap goes over each shoulder . If anyone has any other ideas for seat belts that I can keep the jump seats and have more protection than just lap belts I'd love to hear suggestions.
I'd also be curious if I need to pick a specific type of roll bar to go with a specific kind of soft top- and if there is something I need to know if I want the roll cage to fit under my hard top.

Thanks for any words of wisdom, this forum is such a great resource. I've been stalking it for awhile but just finally got around to asking a question :-)

Oh, and I posted a pic of my baby

1) Metal tech would be my 1st choice for a cage.

2) ditch the jump seats and get a TJ or Sami fold and tumble bench... Three point belts will attach nicely to your new cage... :D

3) Welcome.

4) plan, plan, plan, and then build.

If you're just looking for a simple bar like what came stock in the '75 and later models, find a chassis or stock car builder. Someone in every town of decent size will have a bender. You'll need a main hoop of 2" x .120 that's about 37"~38" tall and 54" inside dimension. What shape you use for "kickkers"
to the rear corners is up to you although straight diagonals are the strongest

MetalSmiths in Boston can build one as well as Kessler Machine in Canton, Ma. Try Kessler first.
