I'm looking for a good local shop to deal with some some general repairs that I just don't have the time to deal with myself right now (replace intake manifold gasket, repair leaking power steering line, check and or replace misc vacuum hoses). This will be on a 1971 FJ40 with a SBC 350 V-8. Of course I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it either. Just want an honest shop I can rely on with fair pricing.

Thanks in advance

John at SD Trux is honest and fair. He has worked on my 80 and I have no complaints. Have also taken my FJC and Lexus to him.

X2 I've been a mechanic in SD for 15 years, and certain shops have certain reputations. I've only heard good about SD Trux

They will give you heads up on things you hadn't even requested they service/repair. They really inspect a car when it is in there, even if just for an oil change. Good attention to detail.

another vote for SD Trux!

I'd vote for SD Trux (use them myself, nothing but good things to say), but I don't think John and company work on SBCs. Worth a call, anyway.

Headed down there myself next week. Had a super conversation with Darrel yesterday about my ongoing issues with a 'lean idle misfire' that's been there ever since I had a local place here in south OC do my HG.
