Just putting the feelers out there for anyone that may know of someone who is selling one or maybe has one they might want to get rid of. I want to build one similar to the one pictured minus the extra cab, as I think this one started as a 40

Thanks in advance for any info.

Id like to see the creation you'd make out of one. Whats your feeling on the powerplant of choice for a 45?

You mentioned to me that the 5.3FI on your short wheelbased 40 was more than enough (is that possible?):hillbilly:

Would the longer wheelbase affect your engine choice and stay with a v8?

BTW, the closest I know of was the OZ troop carrier here for the Grand opening that was for sale.

hope you find one

i want to do that kind of tarp top on my FJ40

:bounce::bounce2::bounce:

I would probably do another 5.3 V-8 so I could tow snowmobiles on a trailer at high elevation or a 2FE/H55F combo and take it slow, but I want to keep stock width axles and do an soa. The V-8 is just not necessary in a 40 that will be used for wheeling or even daily driving imo, not that you can never have too much power at the wheels :hillbilly:, but I just know that it will lead to breakage on the trail and do I really need to go that fast in a 40?:meh: I got into cruisers to go slower and spend more time convening with mother nature.:hillbilly:

Thanks Claudia, I looked at the post for that one already, too nice for me to chop, cut, and rebuild. I want one that I won't feel bad about remodeling or maybe saving from the rust gods.

For a rig to chop, cut, and wheel, why not just chop a '40. Doesn't look that difficult and would have the option of adding cab room like the one above?

I may end up going that way, but if I can find a 45 i'll be able to save myself a bunch of sheet metal work in reworking the cab and hopefully drive it while I build it. Just putting the feelers out there to see what's available. I really like the look of the regular cabs. I found one in Indiana that is near family and already has a bobbed bed, soa, and sr, but it's in Indiana.

I know a good transport company that can truck it out here for a few +? hundred dollars. I can chk into it if youre interested.

I would be interested in what their rates are? Problem with the 45 in Indiana is it doesn't have axles, i'm equipped to tow such a vehicle, but don't want to drive back east anymore (I hate driving through Nebraska, talk about boring) and most transport companies want a rolling/stopping vehicle.

Years ago there was a guy in Kelvin that had a '67 FJ45. He was original owner (bought it in ID, IIRC). He was right off the Florence/Kelvin hwy and lived in a bus/tent. Used to drive it to Superior every couple of days to use the phone. I chatted him up one day, but he wasn't ready to sell. Not sure if he's still there or not. It was red. :meh:

That would be a great way to find one, still in use, and in AZ. But I bet it would be worth quite a bit in SW desert condition.

re_guderian, is that a Yeti eating a skier in your avatar? :lol:

Didn't you guys ever play "Ski-Free" on old, old Windows computers?

edit -> it came out right after Pong... :frown:
