I want sliders for my 60 now. Weld on are OK. Can anyone recomend a shop in SoCal? Near Burbank would be ideal.

Thanks - Seth

I'm in Corona and Orange CA. E-mail or PM me for more info.

Whoa...I'm in Orange, CA right now working...you have a shop somewhere to check your stuff out?

My shop is out in Corona. My home is in Orange. Not much to show off because it's a cnc/welding shop by day and I don't have any standard fabbed parts I inventory.. I have a roof rack sitting in Corona and a Rhino that I'm dropping a R1 motor, new cage, long-travel, etc. into in Orange. Give me a month and I'll have bumpers, sliders, roof racks, etc for the FJ60 (mine first, then others). Unless there's more interest in those parts; then I'd make them immediately. If you want to see the Rhino and have a beer, say... next week some time, let me know. Otherwise, it'll all be on my website (beware it's an amateur website).

Buy a set of Marlins 67" sliders and cut the tips off and weld them up.
$167.00 or something like that.

If someone can drop them off at my place or in Visalia, I will be coming to Burbank on the 11th.

That's cheap for sliders isn't it. Great deal. If you want to go that route, I'd shorten them up for like a eighteen pack of Miller Lite, or a twelve of Guinness, or like four Sammy Smiths.

That's a nice offer. If I do go that route, can they dropped shipped to your shop?

Sure. That price is pending the work is as easy as D'Animal makes it sound. If I have to chop off both ends (four total) and recap, it might be easier to just cut out a section in the center and weld the two halves back together. I own a 60 so I can test fit it to see what the best way to proceed would be. See what you can find out and get back to me.

Oh, those are round tube sliders. I see. So the 'step' isn't too long, just the slider tube; right? If it's round tube I'm capping than I might charge you for the metal caps I have to go buy at Kartek (they're a block away from me). It'll probably be like $5.00 or so.

The four braces that come out from the frame area are what needed to be welded on. They are not attached to the slider at all. You can shorten them for just rocker panel protection or leave them long for more body protection. The tube is round.

If the frame brackets need to be welded on as well with the marlin sliders. Than it's starting to add up to the same price I'd charge you for mine (giving you a deal because your forcing me to upgrade my own rig too). Did you see the pictures he posted a link to? Do you like that style? Do you want round or rectangular, with body protection or not?

The ones I'm going to make for my Fj60, and offer to the public, are going to be rectangular tube (no steps or extra protection, real low key), welded to the frame, and by just playing with the steel I have here in the shop I think the tubes would look and function better at a slight angle. this would point the broad face of the rectangular tubing out and down . I think that would allow the slider to function better. Since your so interested in getting a set quickly, give me a week to make up a pair for my rig and I'll make up a second set for you. Let me figure out a material cost and I'll just charge you for the matl. plus $40.00 (matl. shouldn't be more than $80.00). If you want me to weld them on for you I'll discount my shop rate to $40.00 per hour for you(normally $60 plus for custom work). It shouldn't take more than two hours to install, I'll know more when I install mine. In exchange for this service you have to just tell people about your experience with me and my work. I'll give you a sticker for each side that you can place on the sliders after you paint them (real small, not gaudy). Or I can paint them too, shop rate applies.

That's $120.00 max for the weld-on sliders (unpainted), $80.00 max for the labor. Your out the door with custom sliders, installed, for $200.00 max.

(This price only applies to Ih8Wood. What's with the name anyways?)

I'll be away from the computer until tomorrow so I'll check back then.

I used the 67" sliders and did not trim them at all, and there is NO interference. If you measure you will see 67" are a perfect fit. See this link for my install LINK

Nice!...I took CAD/CAM in college..I miss that stuff.

Anyway, please let me know what your roof rack is going to look at. I'm very interested in it and it sounds like you know what you're doing.

I'm about 90% complete in doing an overhaul of the cooling system as well as the intake/exhuast gasket, vacuum line replacing, carb rebuilt, painted a bunch of stuff etc etc..too much to list...it took forever too as I was only able to work on it after work and some Saturdays.

Keep me posted

Thanks!

try Morse Muffler in Burbank, Tim is a great guy and has a fab shop attached to the muffler business. I don't know anything about how much he'd charge, but before I got my welder he was always helping me with small projects.

In any case, he's a stand-up guy with great skills.
