Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has ever used a boost controller to turn up the boost on a 1kz te. Any recommendations or instructions on how to turn the boost up?

I would like about 13 PSI of boost just to give the Prado more legs.

Thanks,

Finn.

Any reason any of the cheap eBay Boost Tee's won't work? Thats what I've been using for a few years and they seem to go alright.

Any guides how to use a Boost T?
Have a look at this guide: How to Install a Manual Boost Controller? • Turbosmart - https://www.turbosmart.com/news/manual-boost-controller-installation/

It's pretty straight forward though getting into the hose that you need to intercept with the boost T is a bitch to reach. Best to remove the intake piping completely and possibly even the front drivers side wheel to reach in under the wheel arch (from memory).

To use it, start off with it closed. Open it a couple of notches and take it for a drive. You really need a boost gauge installed to see what's going on. You should notice a difference immediately. Even driving with the Boost T closed might even give you one or two psi extra boost (not sure why that is, possibly due to the long tube you use when installing the boost T up high in the engine bay where you can reach it?

Apparently the 1KZ-TE has a fuel cut off at about 15psi. I have never experienced this but if you do, you can either install a Fuel Cut Defender (expensive option) or swap out the factory MAP sensor with a generic 3 bar MAP sensor from ebay (easy and affordable option). Look on youtube for how to install a 3 bar map sensor.

That's about it man. Play around with different boosts and see what feels right. I think 16psi is the sweet spot (best for good boost and EGTs) for the stock turbo with no fuel added. Anything over about 16-18 psi and you'll notice the turbo running out of puff and EGTs will get a bit warmer.

Do you know if Toyota ct12 turbo has internal or external waste gate?

Thanks for bumping this thread, will probably be doing this myself soon. Not looking for any more power, just want to bring down EGTs.
