I need longer front wheel studs for my Cruiser. Its got a mini truck disc conversion. There seem to be lots of threads here about longer studs, but they are talking about rear studs, or for stock FJ40 brakes (drums).

Can someone give me a source or part number that will work for mini truck discs? The ones that I have (and are too short) are 2 inches exactly.

After my last search on here, I bought some DORMAN 610-265 studs, not realizing that these are for the rear (or drum brakes). My fronts are considerably longer but still not long enough for the aluminum wheels that my rig has. I've got it all torn apart, but no studs. :frown:

I put some new lug nuts called ET [extended thread] they have a sleeve that extends into the wheel just an idea.

You should only need longer studs if you have non-standard wheels which are thicker than normal. I'm running standard steel disc brake wheels on my FJ45LV and I did the mini-truck disc conversion there and it's just fine.

I ordered the Moroso, ridiculously long 3" studs before I understood about those extended thread lug nuts.
I'd read about these Moroso studs before, but I wanted something in between 2 and 3 inches...

Here's the Moroso studs (in 1/2-20 size):

I think the extended thread nuts are the same thing caz suggested but I didn't figure that out until later (that thread went several directions). Those nuts would be much easier to install than studs if I didn't already have a screwed up stud (it happened while removing a nut).

Here's an example of the extended thread nut:

I'll take a picture when I'm done and post it.

intersting i have some aftermarket aluminum wheels ,always have been nervous of not enough threads for the lug nut . that extended shank part is suppose to fit into the wheel .right ? does that thread into most aftermarket aluminum wheels ? , my steel wheels fit perfect with the mini truck disc conversion
mini studs also .

The ones I got i had to drill out the lug holes to 5/8 inch it wasn't much just a hair bigger. I had the same feelings about my rims being to thick and this solved my worries. I picked them up at Prestige Wheel Accessories. got them in a couple days.

I think it turned out well. They don't stick out near as far with thicker aftermarket wheels like they did on Mr. Manny's steel wheels...
