Back in town. Freaking love this truck. Apprx. 3300 miles, including trips to Grand Canyon and Sedona Plus offload excursions here and there. Only issue was a preventative stop for brake cylinders (routine maintenance really...) Ran like a champ the whole way. The v6 is great. Clean, quiet and plenty of power on the hills. (in the west they have HILLS, steep ones which can go on for miles) AC stayed on and engine stayed cool. A keeper for sure. Proved itself over and over again on this trip. I have plans for improvements, mainly to camping, sleeping and body armor (winch too) features. LoneRanger is back in the saddle.

You should find the leak. Get some dye (uv works best) and see if you can find it. Could be the compressor or the condenser core and you would have wasted money replacing hoses
 
Yes. Or any shop that does AC work will have one.
 
Ac service at 49Cruisers is under a hundred bucks and includes freon, dye as well as using a UV light to find the source. Whatever you do don't use stop leak or system sealer, if you do you will be replacing the entire system in order to get it to cool right again.

Appreciate it. Just curious, I've seen little UV kits for $10 or so online. Would I be able to do the test myself with one of those?

Ac system is under pressure so as long as the $10 internet dye can overcome the pressure and actually go in the system you should be able to track it down.
 
Great looking 4Runner... I acquired my sisters 00' last year & I've been upgrading/repairing it slowly but surely. I've also got an 06' Sport 4WD, so I have to split time/money between the 2. I went w/ adjustable Bilstiens & stock coils up front, along w/ new CV's, LBJ's, & brakes ha! I just got my OME 906's in & I'm waiting on my rear shocks to level her out. I yanked the running boards asap, b/c mine were already messed up on the passenger side. I'm going to be stuffing some 285's on some 16x8 SCS's in the future. We'll see if a regear is necessary. I'd love to take a trip out west in the old 4Runner like you did. Seems like a damn good time.

Nice. There is ssooooo much to explore out west. I could disappear for as long as the food would hold out. Love to do a trip with a couple of other trucks.
 
For those that don't use facebook...I found this knife yesterday, sitting against one of my roof rack bars. I haven't seen it since I thought I lost it in flagstaff, AZ. That means it rode over 1500 miles up there, including some rough off road trails.
