And those were stock trucks like J10 Jeep pick ups, regular Jeeps, International Scouts and 3 speed piss ant 40's that could barely pull their own weight. LOL

Well, the original poster didn't give a dollar constraint, and it is always fun spending someone else's money! :hillbilly: I think we basically agree. I've driven 2 autolocked FJ60s before and did not like the clank and sudden release characteristics. I've also seen 2 cases where a rear axle was broken with an autolocker, and I think that torque and sudden release contributes to the breakage. Which is why I have a natural bias against them. Now if I had a truck and only $300 and needed a locker for an upcoming trip, no question it would be auto locker time.

Two auto locked 60's do not an 80 series make;) this is almost silly to discuss:flipoff2:, rear auto locker for $300 and be done with it, maybe add a winch too. A locked rear in slick condition and in 2wd can be sketchy, but the 80 with the open center and front dif just calms that whole scene out. OP, save yourself time, money, and try the auto locker out, I doubt you will ever regret it and can resell it for most of what you spend on it if you reach a point that you don't want it.

Buy a winch. No matter how badass your locker is a winch and a land anchor/pull pal is an unstoppable combination. Grab a Harbor Freight 12k winch, a winch bumper (ARB, Slee, etc) and there are very few obstacles you cannot overcome. Those that you cant you probably have no business on.

I looked all over the Google and Youtubez and I found a ton of videos of guys with jeeps and the sounds their aussie lockers make, but I couldn't find a single video of what it sounds like in a FZJ80. Do you guys got anything? Or is it just exactly the same sound, pitch, etc as in the smaller lighter Jeeps?

I had an aussie and it just clicks a bit and an occasional pop, I would say same sound

It was a good locker and worked well but my cruiser is my snow and ice vehicle and that was sketchy for 5-7 months/year
