'97 80 Series. All the locks worcked perfectly. Owner went to get a subwoffer installed and now this:

The main control panel on the DS door will work the drivers lock but none others.

The PS lock control will work the DS lock but no others.

The door key does not work any locks

The locks do lock/unlock in response to the key being in the ignition.

We replaced the main lock relay with no change in symptoms. I am inclined to think the harness is dicked up as it goes into the drivers door but the stereo guy says he nerer touched the drivers door. He only hooked into the back end for the woofer.

Any ideas? My inclination is to send him back to the stereo shop and make it their problem.

I think that's the right idea.

That is strange. I just went into my 94 dash for stereo issues, and I did not have to undo any plugs except for the obvious dash switches....

Does it have an Alarm light on the dash near the locker switch ? Some of those Alarms are pretty problematic, but you already know that...

Is it possible that owner failed to hook up door wiring? I'm just assuming he did door speaker upgrades himself, and the panels have been removed at some point......

Either way, I think the sub installer will refuse any liability, but it is worth a shot....

I had a problem with my door locks when I first got my 80, but it was corrected by the dealership under warranty so I'm not sure specifically what they did.

I do recall that the problem I was having was with the driver's door lock/unlock not controlling the passenger side door. It turned out to be a problem with the wiring headed toward the PS door. They replaced the PS door lock switch, but that wasn't the end solution to the problem.

Could they have possibly messed with any of the door lock wiring?

Just a lot of questions......where did they get the leads for the amp powering the sub? Stock or Aftermarket line inputs from headunit, RCAs? That would let us know where they had to go.....

I just don't remember anything getting in the way of my 94 stereo adventure, but I did have to disconnect the plugs in both front doors to get the panels off, but again, some work, some don't.....

Still think some wiring was disturbed for the alarm if it has it and there are connections to the dash panel...

And the amp turn on switch I understand can draw too much power through that circuit, don't know what else is controlled by that other than dome lights

Send him away and lets start focusing on my 80!
 Now that is tech.
No...Cruisin', don't you know? Someone else logs in as Sparky every once in a while. That couldn't have been from Sparky -- he promised he'd do better.

So...uh...yeah, that couldn't be Sparky posting that. I HAS to be someone else.

too much of a coincidence for me.

Like someone else mentioned. If they ran a power wire from the battery, they may have come down that driver's side. I would follow that wire every inch of the way to look for nicks, cuts, fishy connections, etc..... also for water following the wire in if they did a crappy job. \
