I know this is a rookie question, but will tires fundamentally drive 'heavier' (for lack of a better term) depending on their load range?

For instance: The general grabber at2 comes in a D-rated 285/75/16 (32.8") and, per the general tire website, weighs 56.7lbs. The same tire also comes in an E-rated 275/70/18 (33.2") and weighs 57.6lbs. Even though the 16" is D-rated and the 18" E-rated they weigh virtually the same amount, so will they have similar ride quality or will the E-rated inevitably drive heavier/firmer/harsher/etc?

Thanks friends,
Ben

probably going to be a negligible difference in ride quality between a d and e load range. you would get a bigger ride difference between a passenger rated tire and an lt tire sice the lt will have more plys in the tire carcass to handle a higher load.
