Evening Gents,

I have recently acquired a Lj70 which I am going to use as an offroader. But I need to tap into the combined knowledge and expertise of all on here with some fairly newbie type questions!!

Its an 1989 vehicle sitting on some 02 Landcruiser rims (the 3 spoke ones)

My main question really is what size rubber can I fit underneath it as it stands? The rims are 16x7 and I was toying with 285/75 16 tyres. Would I need a bit of modification with these? Plus there is a set of 33 13.50 16s on eBay would these even fit the rims?

I'm just weighing up the options.

Cheers...

You will be able to fit 235/85/16 tires without problem. Going skinny will be easier on your fuel costs over the long haul.

Good luck!

Personally I wouldn't go any wider than a 12.5...
I have run 33 x 12.5's on my KZJ78 with a 50mm coil lift..And on 7 inch rims.
Tyre choice is always a tricky one depending on what you are doing...
I run two sets now.....Kumho KL71's for on road and soft trips...
Simex Centipede Extremes for hard yakka trips...
But again it depends on what terrain....
I note you are from Ireland
There is a local forum.... Land Cruiser Owners Club
Happy four wheeling

Thanks for the feedback. It's Kuhmos I'm looking at squeezing on to the 70. Would a 2" body lift suffice?
