Hello

Regarding the European LJ 70/73 (Landcruiser II), are there lift kits (OME, Ironman, etc) that would provide a moderate (2 - 3 inch) lift?

Does anyone have experience with these vehicles? Specifically, I was wondering about the 2L-T engine and the coil suspension.

Thanks

Mike

Mike Ill assume your in Europe. This is an aussie company popular with owners of coil sprung 70s.
The site is partially closed for upgrades so you may have to revisit or send an email.

There are a couple of owners that visit this forum occasionally and may pop up.
What did you need to know about the 2LT motor?
I dont know much about them but others will jump in.

i am installing my first propane injection kit on a 2LT today as well as an electric fuel feed pump. i will be installing a lift also on this unit. this LJ71 will become my test truck for the next few months. i will give the et times after the install (once it warms up). how big a tire are you planning on running? last year i ran a set of 31X15.5X15 mud tire on a stock LJ71 with no rubbing at all.
got any pics of your truck?
cheers

31x15.5x15 is a damn fat tire Wayne. :) You mean 10.50? There's some nice LJs in your site that I've noticed...one under $10k! If I only had a money tree in the backyard I'd snap up that ragtop BJ70 from you. Cheers.

nope 31 x 15.5 X 15... Goodyear XT terra tire
my little narlies...

Wayne: Was it this one?:

wayne,
did you knock down your old shop and build that one behind your house? the lift must be nice instead of a pit.....

i wish, that was the tire shop...
one day maybe a quonset with a glass front... i can dream, right?

Thanks for the info.

Actually, the reason that i'm asking is because there is an LJ in TO that i'm looking at. However, before I make a decision, I would like to verify that the engine is reliable, and the suspension can be modified to support 33 inch tires.

I am pretty confident with my 40 ... but this is new territory for me.

i am running 31s on the LJ and with out PI is it really quite gutless. to run 33s on a LJ will be pushing it, in my opinion.
this truck has 163,000 km on it, no lift. with 31s and PI it really does move quite nicely.
just my observations
in your case i would recomend a BJ74. more power and you can run 33s without a lift.
cheers

i have seen a couple LJ78s in Japan with lifts and good sized boots but they are running the 2LTE or the larger 3L engine.
cheers

yes there is OME springs for the LCII. 30mm front and 40mm rear. we have installed a lot of them, we even installed an ARB bumper for a LC70 with a little modifications on the bumper to fit.

Isn't the 2L-T motor the same one that came in the diesel 4x4 mini truck back in about 1985 or so?

Yup, the same one as in the No. American diesel mini truck 1984-86 I think.

TFS55, it looks like the LJ you posted is a RHD to LHD conversion? Taken in the Phillipines, right? Can you get pics of the interior, floor between the seats and the firewall? Curious about the work they did. Thnx.

Hey Guys I just purchased a LJ73 yesterday, I live in the USA.
The truck originated from Italy. The tires on the truck too small. I need put bigger tires on the truck. For a minute I was thinking about putting a lift kit. But maybe I need to slow down and simply get some real nice large tires.
Can anyone recommend large tires that would fit my new 1989 2.0 Ltr diesel LJ73
