Lists of crap wrong with your cruiesr?

Lets see... 1) Need new exhaust (my fault), 2) plastic trim around courtesy light on Drivers door missing (fixed with cardboard), 3) PS rear door speaker cover fell off (and speakers are missing... thanks PO), 4) Hatch doesn't lock/unlock with power locks (most annoying)
....I think thats it.

-cat shield squeaks because it is bolted together instead of the factory studs
-antenna broken since i tried camry cable swap last week
-makes a single weird light tapping/clunking noise under the driver's seat under initial acceleration after a while offroad and for about an hour afterwards
-sunroof still leaks
-aftermarket stereo is ugly and toggle ctrl drives me nuts - but the sound rules
-engine compartment full of mud again
-3 rusted bolt stubs in chassis so can't put the hitch back on
-heater fan squealing sound from the glovebox now almost constant
-may still need injectors cleaned after techron regime ends
-valves due to be checked
-steering wheel slightly off centre since rod ends replaced
-needs alignment
-steering slightly wandering since lifted with no caster bushings installed
-relay and tie rods slightly bent
-rear ps fender flare mudflap mount hole busted
-lspv valve will not move to adjust - brakes slightly weak since lift
-mild driver seat vibration and growl at 55-60 mph since lift
-ps floormat has permanent kink/fold in it from heat distortion
-front seat leather seams are parted and some panels holed or perished
-rear seat "leather" cracking and in deep trouble from the kid's carseats and snacks
-high start up idle
-d light out
-intermittent mild start up rattle with 0w40 or real main/pan arch leak with 10w30 (take your pick)

currently ('96 w/120k):
-front seat adjustment feels rough;
-broken antenae mast (used an MP3 player, so didn't miss it; or play CDs);
-Driver door window seal ripped (slides down with window over time with whistling)
-rear washer doesn't work.

Just replaced the A/C clutch & compressor; right rear and back door lock assemblies.

- D light is out (have lights; no time yet)
- Backlighting for shifter is out (have lights; no time yet)
- Steering wheel leather is worn out and feels like s**t (I don't want to choke up $500 or so to replace it, so I'm going to try a leather cover)
- DS seat leather is shot (I don't want to choke up $500 or so to replace it, but I may anyway)
- Slight "drifting" at freeway speed (probably due to 285's)
- Already replaced Antenna assembly and DS courtesy light switch
- No other problems, but there is still some queued up baselining to be done!
- No squeaks or drips

All in all, no real problems!

Figured I'd add my problems to the list too!

1. Needs front bumper and end caps, ( I swear I didn't see the tree jump out in front of me)
2. Antenna (kids snap it off)
3. Power steering pump (leaks)
4. Front seat (torn, loosing foam, and the back left leg is broke off. Thank god for 2x4's)
5. Rear lift needs replaced (Step father was learning how to drive the backhoe)
6. O2 sensor bad

But im not complaining, since the day I got her, the only thing I have done to her was:
1. welded 2 new down pipes to cat
2. New Alternator
3. New rad hoses and belts
4. 2 front bumpers, 2 Lt fenders, brakes, wipers the normal maintenance stuff.

Ouch..esp. the front spindle stuff. Get that worked out ASAP.

Interesting that this thread is back at the top after several years because what I have found is most wrong with my cruiser is "Previous Owners"

Today I spent some quality time replacing a window regulator that one of the the PO's have bent the **** out of, tried to straighten and put back in. And then once that was fixed I spent several hours undoing a wiring hack job where a PO had installed a keyless entry/ remote start setup. Fortunately the "splices" were close to plugs so I was able to unpin the connectors and get some heat shrink tubing on to cover the butchered wires. I pulled what seemed like a mile of wire out and still have a couple that I need to trace and fix, but for the most part I got all of the crap out.

I have fixed botched o2 sensors intallations, redid so called front axle rebuilds, swapped lift coils from left to right, and the list goes on.

I love my cruiser, but unfortunatly the previous owners have not been so kind and most of the things that I have been doing thus far I can attribute to some one half*** "fixing" things.

idle fluctuation
abs only works when it doesn't need to
upper oil pan leaks
transfer case output leaks
Power steering box is tired
D selector light is out

List was a whole lot longer a year and 5 grand ago.

cool thread! this might even help me gather them all

1. small small crack in windshield
2. need to re-upholster the seats
3. re-upholster A/T shifter
4. mild engine leak that I really can't figure out where it comes from
5. PS hose fabrication (return)
6. rear scratched bumper (tolerable though)
7. locking key cylinder set (my ignition assembly got effed up)
8. minor freon leak
9. re-connect OEM ice maker
10. low fuel, center diff lock, cruise control in gauge not lighting


I have the whole year to fix all those

@ybhc - you might wanna have a check on the PS steering box... I almost died when it got f**ed up while cruising at 100kph- the bearings all got loose inside and messed the shaft and pinion

had to buy a 2nd hand one for $670

That's pretty much all..no leaks no squeaks 16-17 mpg daily driving

Lets see, it's a 1993 with 165k on the engine and 280k on the body.

Rear main seal leaks
It's got an intermittent low idle issue I've been trying to track down.
Front seats are in poor shape
The rear doors don't always unlock on the first try
The antenna needs replaced
The paint is in need of work
The flares were removed by a tree and now I have some holes in the body
The sunroof leaks in heavy rain
the rear sliders leak in any rain
Drivers side seat-belt retractor
Rear defroster doesn't work
A/C doesn't work.

I think that's everything. I'm sure as I fix it I'll find more.
