Good afternoon,
I've been trying to get my truck clean on the insides, and it appears there's about 30 years worth of dirt, sand, grime, rust and God knows what else. I did a general once over, clean job, but now starting to get the old paint, glue, and grime out. So far, I've just been going the old fashion route and using elbow grease, hands, sand paper, and some steal wool. Does anybody have any recommendations to make the process go little easier/fasster? Any kind of cleaning agent that dissolves years of dirt and sand, and possible even old paint, glue, and rust? Some kind of "Liquid Sand Paper?"
I love doing the work myself and it's nice to do it by hand and have the satisfaction of doing it yourself, but if the job could be made a little easier with the help of some diluted acid of some kind, that would be helpful...
Thanks in advance.
Andrew

Get a can of furniture paint/varnish remover, and a good set of rubber gloves. This stuff will get you down to bare metal in a hurry when using an aggressive steel wool (pot and pan cleaner steel wood, very large open pores). Definitely wear good quality/thickness rubber gloves because this stuff will burn your hands.

Thank you very much!

Eastwood (Eastwood - Auto Body Repair Tools | MIG Welder | TIG Welder | Plasma Cutter | Auto Body Supplies & Accessories) sells a lot of various treatments, coatings, etc. I've used their rust converter with success. And have used their rust preventative treatments on my FJ40 and Bronco, such as the inside frame coating, chassis primer and chassis black.
Lost of Eastwood products went into my Bronco project and also on my FJ40.

Awesome. Thanks. Great looking trucks, by the way.

Thanks again for the idea... things are finally starting to look a little shiny on the inside.

Thank you very much!

One thing about the use of steel wool, it breaks down and leave particles, which then begin to rust, so cleanup is essential. But you are in the desert, so might not have as much threat of moisture hanging around to start the rusting
Cheers

Appreciate the thought, and as they say, great minds think alike... Every night after I clean the inside, I sweep it free of all dirt and any little metal particles left behind from the steel wool.
