I live right on the county line between two countries, that between the two have over 300 miles of what the local politicians call “unimproved roads” which I guess sounds better than “rough ass, dusty, dirt roads”.
Does that justify a “raised air intake” (note I didn’t say snorkel ), who knows.

Nope, that only justifies a washable prefilter for the intake system...which is a phrase that here means "Kaitlynn's favorite cut-off crop-top tied around the air filter, 'cause she was probably gonna take it off later, anyway."

True, but it's not that easy to lean across the fenders with the lines in place, which is more of what I was saying. And that's an important consideration, because "hood up, leaning across the fenders" is the natural state for Defenders and their owners.*

*- of course, I'm kidding about this: Defender owners don't work on their own rigs. They have people for that.

Now, let's just get one thing out of the way: I don't normally post pictures of rigs I see in parking lots, and I'm all for personal expression...but amongst the massive array of decisions that have been made here, the color-matched limb risers that guide any offending limbs directly into the light bar are probably the most baffling.

It's possible; just because they made bad decisions with that riser and light bar doesn't mean that they also make bad decisions by purchasing pre-ground coffee. I mean, think of it this way: we can fix the limb risers...but some problems are just unsolvable.
