Jesus, Matt that had to be cold.

Edit. Wait, I see in the other thread you have a ready heater.

Very nice. Looks good.

If you don't mind me asking. How is the 80 mechanically? What issues have you had with it?

Oh and how is the new dining hall? My buddy Curtis said he spent all weekend getting ready for the opening. He is the head chef out there. You need to go meet him. I think you will like him, he's really cool. He and I went to Winthrop together.

I haven't had any major issues with the 80. Windows are slow in the cold almost not working on the way back up at times, and the speedo (not the odometer) can take awhile to warm up/start working on some mornings. I have been told that the speedo could be a grounding issue near the PHH. (I will tackle this when I do my PHH which I have both of the hoses that I bought b/f I even picked up the 80.)

Driven it around 5K miles since I bought it and its been great. I see after doing the lift I will need pads and surface the rotors or get new ones before too long. Oil consumption is nada and I have been running Shell Rotella for the last 3K miles with the big OEM filter. Time to change that next time I will probably let it go to 5K. I think I may get a oil analysis after the next change, unless I can be talked out of it.

Erskine - Yes we did reopen the dining hall on Monday. We are all really excited! Many more options and also soft serve ice cream again. :bounce2:
Here is a news video that Fox did on it. Look closely in the background at the beginning and you will see me walking by wearing a peach colored shirt.

Is your buddy the chef pictured at the bottom of this article?

Not him. He's our age. Light brown hair. Your build. His name is Curtis Carter.

I know who he is now. Just walked down the hall and talked with him. Great guy! Sounds like he's going to get a mini-truck in a few months to start wheeling with the club. He went on and on about how the big Gay wont run. :) And when he went to Gulches with JP scratching Mary E's 80. He saw my 62 for sale the other day here on campus and said he was wondering whos it was. Cool deal.

Update on the update.

I did a little work this weekend and got my slider installed on the passenger side. Also hit a milestone. More details to come including pics. Also some good and bad news. So stay tuned!

Well I thought I would get the pictures up on here, but we have been ever which a away here lately and they are still in the camera. So Ill just spill the beans and post pics later. :)

Milestone - We hit 40,000 miles in the 80 last week. Sad but great to see it. I have pics of the speedo that will be up soon.

Good news - Slider installed and I am going to get to start modding the 4runner. Other slider waiting for a little time to get it on. Sliders cost me $6.26 :bounce: I got the sliders for free from a guy in Savannah and a family friend picked them up and held them a few months for me. I finally got around to installing them and had to go buy hardware to mount them (they are bolt on). Total cost for all 6 bolts, nuts and washers, was $6.26! Sweet!

LED Tails installed. Got them from MOT off of eBay, they had a small crack on one lense, but so did my stock ones, I fixsed it with som esuper glue and you would never know it unless you looked really closely. I also got some LED signal bulbs in, but need to do the flasher mod. Have to remember to get by a NAPA and have the part # written down. (We dont have many NAPAs realy close to us.

Bad News - Lori is going to start driving the 80 full time. We have been sharing it over the last month or so as her starter went out, but now she will be in it all the time. Why you ask, you just started building it.

Well we are expecting baby #4! He/she will be here in March and we need the space as 3 car seats and a booster wont fit in anything else we own.

I still need to get the CC bushings installed on the 80. I posted up in a few threads about anyone helping and haven't gotten a response, so if you can help please post up, as I would like to get the looseness out of the 80.

Now if someone would just buy FLOPPY (the 62) I would be well on my way to getting these both set up. :D

great to hear about your cruiser Matt. Also, CONGRATS on #4!!!! I got my CC bushing put in a couple weeks back. I removed the control arms and took the to a local 4x4 shop to install the bushings. then i put it all back together. if you need help let me know... i dont know how to get the bushings in or out, but if my schedule allows i would be more than happy to help.

Thanks swampy! :) I will let you know on the bushings. How much did the shop charge you? You have any new pics of your 80?

Well for everyone else I know I like pics in threads so here are the pics of the slider install.

I need to check my exhaust hangers as I have a few rattles, it was at the rear near the can at the back but now its rattling on the slider.

Notice the LED tails I scored from MOT for a deal! I also installed a set of LED signal bulbs so it looks clear until they come on. I have to do the flasher mod so they will blink normal again. I am loving the LED tails and they match the 3rd brake light which is nice. I will tyr to get some night pics up soon.

Here is the milestone:

That's right 40K miles! Man the last 10K miles went by fast!

I picked up some new Headlight bulbs yesterday and may or may not use them. I still have to replace the drivers headlight as it has a hole in it from a rock or something so I am not sure what I will end up doing with it in reguards to OEM replacement or going with an aftermarket pair.

Lookin' good Matt! Nice and clean. You've got some super high oil pressure. Guess those seals in the FZJ are better than the 2F. If my 2F had that kinda oil pressure it would look like Ole Faithful going down the road :hillbilly:

Yeah, I am told the sensors are finicky on the 1fz. I need/want to put a actual gauge on it to see what it really is since stock gauges are not too specific. Thanks for the compliments. Congrats on 1000 posts as well!

Well last week I replaced rear brakes: a caliper, rotors and pads. Had horrible noise from the rear brakes and drug my feet getting parts together. Ended up that a pad dropped out of the drivers side and ate up the caliper piston and made a huge mess.

Now.... Fronts need done and we are having issues with the pedal still being really soft and randomly going to the floor. Trying to research in the 80 forum so here is my plan thus far:
100 series pads front, probably new rotors and a front end rebuild as its weeping more than I like. Considering all new soft lines front and rear while I am at it. (Not sure on rubber or SS, hearign stories on the +/- of those as well.)

I may end up having to go ahead and just put front pads on to keep it roadworthy and tackle the rebuild later this summer. I just hope that the front being replaced will fix some of the pedal issues. I see horror stories on 80 forum of master cyl, booster, LSPV, and ABS stuff.
