So my VisionX 30" Prime Drive LED bar shorted out. And VisionX replaced it no questions asked; cost me $20 shipping to send it to them.

They mentioned there are multiple boards soldered together and most likely one or more inter-connect/soldered joints failed. Given all the washboard covered since installing this bar a couple years ago its not totally surprising. I assume all the LED light bars are probably constructed similarly.

If I am going to make a change this would be the time. Any of you running an LED bar from Nick?

I have one sitting in the garage. No experience with it. I did read somewhere that someone commented the anadizing was fading sooner than expected.

What are you guy's thoughts on Shane's (MetricTLC) Hi/Low beam LEDs? Thinking of picking up a set but would really like to see the final product in a 100.

Not familiar with Shane's/MetricTLC hi/low beam LEDs.

All the talk about cloudy or worn OEM reflectors lately...inspected mine and they're looking nasty. I suppose the increased heat of the non-OEM bulbs might be a contributing factor? Either way I need to address it

BTW: With just out of pocket return shipping cost VisionX replaced my EVO Prime Drive LED bar with brand new under their warranty.

I'm linked with Shane through facebook and saw some pics he posted in bis 100.

Compared to Oem they look really white. Compared to his 6000k hid lights they looked really white. His comment after a few rounds discussing light color... He said "I feel like an ass. I never realized how blue my headlights were." The led's did look white not blue for a 6000k bulb.

Looking out in the photos...away from the truck, the photos seemed to give a halo affect. I don't know if it was a camera thing or what. But my suspicion is that our reflector doesn't work right with this bulb and you will be throwing a lot of glare at on comming traffic...

I just bought my first bar ever from Steve at Southeast Overland. He is a good dude. I bought the "Lifetime LED" brand. Seemed middle of the road on the price. $179 for a 13 inch bar. Have not seen anything on longevity. Time will tell.

While I sit here waiting for more parts...I tailspin into mundane mod ideas including this one :D.

If you want more illumination for your glove box this is a simple and cheap mod. No more issue about anemic illumination for the glove box :) And it, with shipping, was only about 10 bucks.

I do like those strip lights. So easy to install. I need to install some under the hood. The ones I've checked meet the under-the-hood temperature requirements.

So...you may remember my Vision X 30" EVO Prime drive shorted out. To VisionX's credit, instead of repairing the light bar, they replaced it with a brand new unit. I was always disappointed with the paltry light output relative to what they promised so downstream it went on eBay.

After more research I ended up pulling trigger on a Rigid Industries 38" E2 Series combo light bar. Finally, just a couple nights ago, I got to test it on our pseudo rural (read: Dark) roads and it seems to be the bomb-digity...finally! Sorry no pics but it certainly appears to push out enough light to truly be the "65-mph" light I was looking for. Can't wait to get some windshield behind it.
