I am having an issue with my lights in my 1970 FJ40. I went to drive it the other night and I turned the lights down to parking and then when I turned them back on they all quit working. Looking through the diagrams I can't find any kind of relay on the lights. I have looked at the fuses and none are blown. Any ideas on this issue? Can the switch be bad and cause this problem?

i have heard that sometimes the fuses look fine but they arn't [the old style kind] replace them anyways.. or my other guess is what always ends up happening to me.. there is a spliced wire that rotted out and needs to be restripped and reconnected.. check under the vehicle/in the engine bay for poorly wrapped wires, there could be a break

Yeah, I've had one of the old glass fuses fail on my for my wipers and it didnt look like it had failed. on the one I had if I looked really close I could see just a hint of discolouration on the filiment inside the fuse.

Cheers

If you can't tell by looking...put a test light to each end of the glass fuse. One end should always be hot...the other end will only be hot if the fuse is still good.
