I'm gonna order me up some shiny new low beam bulbs for the 80. The 9012 (HIR2) conversion for the stock 9006 looks like the way to go unless y'all can convince me otherwise. Anybody want to get anything from these guys and split some shipping?

I have been using these bulbs for years (along with the high beam versions) and recommend them. I have purchased bulbs from candlepower.com previously, but Amazon has them (not sure if 3rd gen) for $20.78.

The 3rd gen may be worth getting if the life is longer. I will say that the hir's don't seem to have a long life. On our 100, we have blown (exploded) a high beam bulb and burned out a high beam bulb (probably due to being used as day time running lights). A low beam bulb just burned out yesterday.

Good to know. I've assumed that higher power bulbs don't last as long.
