Yes the head light switch that goes for mor than $100 from sor.com depending on the year. what would you like to know? anything specific?

yeah just spill what you know or is it some big secret? we tend to share stuff here and if you got a cheaper solution then let us know what it is.....post it right here please

Well I have lots to say and rather than to just start rambling off and not knowing if it would help andyone seemed like a wast of the forum. Anyway I will try te get the part # for the switch but even not knowing that I can help. First off the cheapest solution is to take it apart and clean it. The switch on my 72 was very seviceable. I got some more life out of it this way but due to corn fed previouse owners that pull on the switch to hard the switch was doomed to replacement. SO... If you need to replace you switch go to Napa with your old one. Show them that you need a switch that looks like your old one. Then they will give you a switch that is a "pull-on" that has 2 on positions (sorry this is where the part # should go). This switch may seem that it is not ment for land cruisers when you look at what the terminals are labeled as but it can be used. The switch I got from napa has a hot terminal. head term, dash term, tailterm, and parking lights terminal.

So This new switch has way to many labels that are discouraging BUT for LESS THAN $10 (yes thats $9 and some change not $150) It can be wired to work. The knob is white and must be discarded as soon as posible and the old knob will fit on but its not perfect. I got mine to fit good enough for Govt. work. ;) when looking at your switch you should see 2 green wires and 2 RED wires, one of the RED will have white on it. So take your wire diagram and look to see which red wire is from the fuse block ( I think ist the red/white wire). This will go to the hot terminal of the switch. Now take a continuity tester and check to see which GREEN wire goes to the fuse block. This GREEN wire will ALSO go to the hot terminal. The other RED wire will go to the headlight terminal. the other GREEN wire will go to the taillight terminal. Now pug it in and hit the trails.

I think I should do a web page on this because I have diagrams. I don't have my notes with me so sorry if this is a bit rough. Would a tech article help anyone? I have diagrams that show how the switch works and pinouts along with which wire goes where (for sure not "I think") and what the wire does. Would it be worth the time? I would be happy to make a page on it however I don't have a web page to post it on but could email it to who ever would need it or is this good enough?. What do you guys think?

Take a look at the ezwiring web site $25 for a basic light swith with a black knob. I have not tried this one so feedback from someone who has would be nice

It is easy to put a repo POS $10 siwitch on the truck. I thought you had a lead on a real switch. $150 for a 25 year switch is not such a bad deal.

I'm with Kurt....

Wow....

Good luck!

Overhaul Switches

My cruiser is newer and I'm not sure about earlier switches, but the 24 year old electrical dash switches (all of them) in mine were easy to open up and overhaul.

When I tried to get the switch assy the last time I was only able to get the switch and not the knob. I don't remember it costing $200 though...

Just an FYI.... One of the last times I was at a pick-a-part I found quite a few headlight switches in the mini-trucks that have the exact same connector on the back of them. I think I even saw the same switch in some of the older Toyota sedans as well.

The ones I found didn't have the lighted knob, but you could use your old switch and the mini-truck switch to come up with one.

Merry Christmas
