Hi Everyone,

I need to lift my 2004 all stock Landcruiser. but I only want to lift it 1 inch or so. I do not do any serious off roading, I just do not like the way the tires are kind of tucked underneath the truck.

The stock tires are 275/60R18.

Also, does anyone know where it can be done in or around Los Angeles?

Thanks

Well, correct me if I am wrong guys, but for a minor 1" of lift w/ factory tires, I would simply crank up the stock front t-bars 1" , and then throw a set of 1" packers on the rear springs.

Your ride quality should remain about the same as it is now, and it shouldnt interfere with the stock shocks range of motion, if any ( well..enough to matter).

Any input on this method ?

Don't know if the OEM shocks will top out with 1" more travel or not...I suspect this would be an issue? That would be about the only negative to doing the above as far as I know.

The absolute BEST thing you can do to improve your ON-ROAD ride is to add the 2" OME rear lift with F&R shocks, then adjust the stock T-bars to match. Your ride will be like a frickin' BMW X5 but with Cruiser comfort. Much better than stock. Pics here:

Heh...heh...heh, Ever REALLY drive an X5?

And I should clarify depending on why you ask....the 33" (285) 2" combo offered an excellent ride on and off road. Great control and good down-travel. Upgrading to 35's (315s) improved the off-road ride a lot though reality is that sometimes you wish you had more down-travel.

John,
any reason why you chose the 31mm and not the 32mm swayaway?
just curious
cheers

IMO anything larger OD than the OME is going to be too stiff a spring rate...

yeah but he's upgraded to this swayaway bar from the factory toyota/lexus bar...and after visiting the website there's the 31mm which he recommends and there's the 32mm there as well.
That's my question.

Anyway, it's coming up to 2:30am Sunday and i'm about to drive 800 km for a weeks worth of offroading as i mentioned in another post, so i am going to bed.

i am so happy to find this informatve forum i look forward to being, hopefully, a regular contributor.
take care, and "talk" to you all in a week or so
cheers

Aren't the 32mm one's for the diesel equipped 100's that have more weight up front? I seem to remember reading that somewhere on here before, but not sure.

Yes. That TD is a monster (I want one, for the 80...).

The diesel 100's series T-bars are a different length than the gassers.

On a related note, I too am only planning on about one inch (or so...) of lift in front. Do you guys recommend a diff drop kit for that? I figure: why not, it should put the axle pretty much straight back to stock, no? I can't see a reason not too (except for the money, but it's not too expensive, all things considered).

TIA,
