I haven't done my side trim yet but I have some ideas I'm working on for my rig. I planning to a slightly different two tone side trim (like the factory uses) using a factory riverock mica paint, graphite and or darker blackite (my custom color). A two tone paint on the trim will require careful masking to get the small trim stripe to come out professional grade. Make sure you post up pictures of the trim project if you choose to tackle it. Good luck! Your build is coming along nicely.

I tried one door like you plan and it looks very good. I just didn't have the time nor 5 rolls of tape. If I were to do it again in the future I'll be going with a slightly darker gray in the middle section.

Did you just paint your wheels, or is that actually a powercoated finish? If it's a special paint, can you comment on the process, how did you prep them, and did you use a clearcoat finish on top? How many coats, and what type of paint?

Nice lookin' rig.

Really like the look of those 315s...oh, and nice color too!

You can probably find a lot of info here.....https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/466473-painting-wheel-what-color.html

I painted mine over a year ago and almost 30k miles ago and am still very pleased. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Here is the Readers Digest version:

I removed mine from the truck, then....

I just "washed" my wheels with Dawn dishwashing liquid (degreaser) and a scotchbrite pad with a medium grit. It cleans the wheels and scuffs them up all at the same time. Then I sprayed with Bulldog adhesion promoter, then Duplicolor graphite wheel paint, then Duplicolor clear coat. I used 1 coat of bulldog, 3 light coats of color, then 2 light coats of clear.

I would clean them really good, then, anything you don't want paint to stick to, carefully put some vaseline petroleum jelly on. After painting, just wipe the overspray off with the vaseline. The paint won't stick to vaseline. Good luck

Copenhagen1,that's pretty much how I did my wheels .I did them with the tires on the rims and instead of blue painters tape I used a deck of cards ,just stick them between the tire and wheel meet, stand the cards up,I've seen this done on here before or was it YouTube?it's a simple process .I picked everything up at Autozone, and my sons old yu-gi-oh cards, lol
