Lift Kit Questions... Please Help! (1 Viewer)

I own a 2017 LC. I need to lift it in order to install larger tires. I had Fox 2.0 Coilover shocks installed in the front which had the effect of leveling the truck whilst empty but a slight negative rake (my words for butt drag) exists when I load the truck down with vacation baggage.

Next month I will ship my truck to Slee and have them install front (ARB) and rear (Slee) bumpers along with roof rack, sliders, etc.

I'm concerned the extra weight will weigh the truck down excessively.

Please let me know what lift kit I should install and whether 2" or 3" is preferred/advantageous.

I would like to run BF Goodrich KO2's in the 32 to 34 inch range.

Sounds like you're going to want the "heavy" spring setup for the rear. Since you'll have it at Slee, they can help you choose the correct setup.

Thank you! I spoke with Ben at Slee. He hasn't recommended the "heavy" and has discussed only an2 inch lift. This is why I've posted a question because I'm uncertain of what path to take.

Do you know or recommend any specific product manufacturer?

Ben may be assuming the heavy when he talks about the 2 inch lift.

I've used OME springs and shocks and have been happy with them. However, since you have fox in the front you may want to do them in the rear as well. I'm sure you could match a fox shock to an OME spring.

I'll see if I can find the part number for what Slee recommended for my rig with the rear bumper.

Well. Slee can help you with the particular lift, but just to help with your thinking on lift height.

A lift doesn't buy you more clearance for a bigger tire, it buys you more time till you ram your tire into your truck. Unless you add extending bump stops, and trade up travel for a bigger tire, the biggest tire you can fit under stock height is the biggest tire you can fit with a 2-3" lift.

Since you already have a coil over that allows for adjusting preload, like Icons, Kings, Bp-51s, then you can just raise and lower to where you like it, and don't have to worry about the springs rate. As compared to a regular OME front strut assembly where your ride height is set.

There are lots of suspension options. I think the majority are running BP-51s at this point but there are icon guys, and bilstien guys.

I went with the mid weight OME springs and it helps with the vacation squat but it does ride firmer day to day.

FAQ section definitely has some good info. Seems like a lift comparison or summary of available options would be a good thing. It does seem like most are running BP-51, a few with ICON/King/Bilstein. There has been a lot of chatter about clunking noise when cold on the BP-51 that may be resolving but has been an issue. As always a ton of info already on here.

Actually FAQ items are not a Moderators job. I do it because it helped me learn when I was building my truck and I just organized other peoples threads. If someone started a lift FAQ thread with no chat, just tech I would add it to the FAQ. I really know nothing about all the Lift options available. I picked what I have because it essentially was the same lift I selected for my 100 and similar to what I selected on my 80. It always worked well for me. I am considering how to add another 1" of lift, but that will likely wait a while

I didn't do either. I am having Slee install the upper control arms whilst they have it.
