I’ve been working on putting my fire truck on a diet, getting rid of stuff I won’t use pump internal plumbing etc. will eventually put on some type of flatbed and run the fire bed in parades sometimes. Now that it’s getting much lighter I’m looking in to lift kits and bigger tires, probably 33s maybe 35s, For a good overland vehicle look. I am open to any suggestions people have on Lift kits, New used spring over or any other suggestions. Thanks Greg

Call it for what it is, a HZJ75. It doesn't need special fire truck suspension. There are plenty of companies, Dobinson's, OME, Tough Dog and others who sell springs for these.

33s maximum if you want the brakes to work somewhat and be able to make it up hills. The 1HZ is fine for most people with tyres around 32 inch

Hello,

You may want to get a Dobinsons or OME kit. A medium one will do.

I have seen fire trucks with sagging suspensions, probably because of the stuff they carry. Yours seems sagged as well, for the wheels are much closer than usual to the fenders.

I would not go bigger than 33 either. On road speed and rubbing become annoying in time. Ask me how I know.

Regarding special, it is a 75 Series with a cropped 77 body. Not many were made back in the day. Low mileage is a bonus.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I feel that it’s awesome truck to have especially here in the USA

But desperately in need of a diet and new suspension!

Hello,

The pump module in the back does looks big and heavy.

Quite likely your truck does not have power steering, something uncommon in 70 Series units.

Power steering and suspension would be on top of my to-do list.

Its still a HZJ75, even if its done 11000klms. If you want advice on parts and maintenance, you need to use the correct nomenclature. Suspension for your HZJ75 are not labelled "special" to suit your landcruiser.
All the big names give you good suspension as long as you choose the correct loading .

My guess is that 1HZ needs a good workout after doing 11000klms in 26 years. Its probably not even fully run in. Regular use keeps the oil leaks away

Again bro I’m looking for your conjecture looking for advice on suspension lift, If you don’t want to provide that don’t coment.

I already said all the big names give good value and that you need to consider your load carrying needs before making a choice. Get it?

I have OME on my 55, 80, and '85 4Runner. At the time, they were about the only game in town but I have read good reviews on the Dobinson's as well. I will be keeping the original suspension on my FZJ75, at least for now. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the popular choices as long as you spec it right. My truck has Dunlop 7.5R16 tires which are just under 32". Lot's of threads on skinny tires in the 32" +/- size depending on AT or MT. I don't think I would go to a 35" personally; too much trouble but that's just my opinion.

I think I agree with you, 33’s Are my first choice. I’ve run tall skinny‘s on my 73 Jeep CJ five 34 x 9.5 TSL‘s. I love them but not good road tires. Would love to have a similar size on the Land Cruiser but with better street behavior.
