I'm looking to buy some OME springs. Currently on stock suspension. I don't have front or rear bumpers, so I am just getting the 2 rear springs and 4 shocks.

Last summer, I had the cruiser loaded down with gear for me and family. Rear cargo was packed full and the roof rack was full as well. I have no idea what the weight was, but it was enough to make the rear end squat so there was almost no fender gap. I stood on the rear tire when loading, but by the end, there was hardly any room to stick my foot in the wheel well. Also bottomed out a few times on some mild dirt roads.

This being the case, I'm wondering which OME set up would be best. It's not a daily driver, so not that concerned about unloaded ride. Although it would be great if it road nice without a load as well.

What would you guys recommend?
 
Get some OME 865's, new shocks and crank your factory torsion bars up to raise the front end a couple inches. It give you a nice 2" lift and still ride pretty good with your described setup.
 
^^ 865s with Nitrocharger Sport Shocks and OME torsion bars.

Mine is a semi DD and no front or rear bumper.

When we go off road, its usually packed pretty well top and inside, and even with a trailer there typically isn't any sag.

I would not add aftermarket heavier torsion bars until you put on a front bumper or add more weight. It will ride better with stock tbars cranked up to match the 2" OME 865 coils. I ran this same setup before adding my bumpers and it was great. I also bought Ironman shocks when I started with the 865's. It was a great setup to begin with. After adding sliders and bumpers I moved to OME 863's, heavier tbars, etc.

Geez. Here I thought I had made up my mind on lift options. I was all set to pull the trigger on the 860's with some 1" rear spacers, 1.25" front spacers, 275/70/18 duratracs and fox 2.0. Then I saw this picture with the 865's

and this thread is telling me to keep my stock torsion bars. I've gotta figure this out. I have new places to go camp! No questions. No hi-jack. Just in a similar boat.
 
^ Get the 865's. It will be better than running spacers and give you a 2" lift on a stock 100. It's a very affordable way to do a nice lift and get new shocks at the same time. I'd buy a diff drop before spending the money on new tbars... Even if you get tbars with a complete lift package I'd leave them out until a front bumper goes on...

OME 860 springs will be stiffer... Unless you have a lot of weight in the back the truck will ride much better with the 865's...

Did you mean wheel spacers, or spring spacers? You don't need wheel spacers to run 275/70/18s. And if you meant spring spacers, there aren't spring spacers for the front of a 100 since it's IFS, and the rear would be way too high with 865s and 1" spacers.

FWIW, I rode on stock TBars for a while after starting out with 865s. Even after I added an ARB deluxe. Once you add a winch and dual batteries and the weight really starts increasing, then add the OME TBars. JMHO.
 
^^^ OME 860's with 1" spacers would give you 3"+ (depending on load weight in rear) lift in the rear. You can crank the factory tbars up just as high as any aftermarket tbars and the factory bars were made for stock weight. Unless you carry alot of stuff in the back of the truck 865's and factory bars cranked up 2" in the front will yield the best ride IMO. I've run many different setups since buying my 100 and the 865 setup worked great for me when I first lifted my 100.
 
Heh. No. I meant wheels spacers. And I know I don't NEED them. I think the wider track looks better after thumbing through some pictures from other members. But I have to pass safety every year, so I don't want her too wide. The wider spacers up front (1.25" vs 1" in rear) to try to even out the front/back track after lift per Mr. Woody's recommendation. I've put WAY too much time into research and not nearly enough time doing...
 
865's are perfect if you're not carrying anything, and dont plan on carrying anything.

Given that you loaded up the truck to the hilt previously, I would recommend 866's.

I carry 350lbs of drawers, gear, fridge, etc, plus roof rack and RTT. This makes the truck squat even with 866's, so I added 15mm of spacers and its almost perfect.

FWIW - You will still have similar squat if you load the truck like you had it with 865's.
 
Wheel spacers open up another can of worms too but if you aren't wheeling the truck they probably meet your needs. I'd invest in a diff drop before spending the money on wheel spacers...
 
Diff drop is definitely on the lift list. Forgot to mention earlier. And I've read about and talked to a few folks about running 275's with wheel spacers. I haven't heard any bad experiences yet. I think I'll take the chance for aesthetic reasons. Plus, spacers are easy to take off if I change my mind.

Air bags could be an option. Hadn't thought about that. I'll call up Kurt and see what he thinks. Seems like general concensus is 865's, otherwise.
