Hello any know how to access the license plate lights? no visible screws to remove and I was not sure if I had to go from the interior section to gain access to them. its a 2006 lx470 thanks

thanks but not to be a homer simpson but which side? I thought of that and tried to push a little but did not want to break a clip or the rubber seal. is it pushed to the inside or outer part of the vehicle? thanks

IIRC they push to the outside. I don't think you can break the clip as it's pretty thick. If it's the first time it may be a little stiff. The socket rotates out of the assembly and out come the 168 Bulb.

ok thanks its getting dark her now so I will try tomorrow plus I worked today so I don't want to get frustrated and break it got lights from PFRan and will post the fix tomorrow thanks again

Nah, I broke mine no problem on my '99. It was just before a trip I was telling myself "just leave it alone dip s*** so you don't break anything right before the trip, it's not mission critical, the lights work"....but I wanted my LEDs in there. Even avoided just trying stuff and read on here for the how to first. I guess mine must have a lot of night time hours or something because it was brittle as hell. Anyway, I was able to make a new clip qucik out of a little TIG rod, hopfully you don't share my luck!

fairly easy fix; all I could say is gentle force to the side of vehicle and pull out. getting the light bulb out was actually harder (did not want to break the bulb) here is the result in person you can definitely notice they are led lights

sorry i have no idea why its sideways??? pics are normal on computer any ideas?

Ive got a 2004 Land cruiser with both bulbs burnt out, I tried pushing the lens and assembly to the side with no success. Does the lens slide off independent of the bulb housing or does the entire assembly slide off? I posted a picture below of license plate light

Yes, lens slides off independent of the bulb.

Has anyone added LED aftermarket license plate lights. Not just the bulbs but the actual housing. I'd be grateful for a recommendation. I have an '05 LC.

I'm curious if anyone has added new housings. Like these:

Yes, don't fool around with trying to replace just the bulbs. The fixture (if very old) is going to be brittle, dirty and the lenses cloudy.

Just go on Ebay and pick any of the new LED fixtures, then don't worry if your old light fixtures break taking them out. The wire and connectors are right there at the light. Just unplug them, plug the new light in, pop them back in place. MUCH brighter light.

Took me all of 5 minutes to do it.
