I called a local Toyota for a quote on brake service (new pads and re-surfacing the rotors) on my Lexus 2003. The quote was about $800 for all 4 corners; however, they also mentioned that they can get lexus pads because unlike Toyota, they are actuallly ceramic pads. This was new to me. I have used toyota parts in the past because I bought them from online toyota (McGeorge) but now i'm confused. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks

Are you hellbent on sticking with OEM? If not, Stoptech and many other brands will serve you every bit as good if not better for less money.

I'm actually not hellbent on sticking with OEM. I currently had drilled stoptech rotors and hawks pads all around but the pads are wearing out faster the OEM stuff by 2x compared to the OEM installed by previous owners since we bought the car. It might be the rotors but I'm not sure. The new rear pads are left with 25% after just 15Kmiles. Rotors are fine, now warped but i'm sure I can't turn them. This car is a family car with less than 7K miles annually and we only take it on long trips.

As someone with a hooptie made from Lexus who formally worked for Toyota, I will say in a hushed tone: Spend the $800. Request the coupon from their website, speak with the service manager, and then call the corporate number. Should get you out of the dealer for less than $650. Butt, you did not hear that from me that it is all the same quoting Bubba Sparxx -" it's all the same".

The part number is the same for front pads and rotors on LC and LX 100 series models. You’ve been around enough to check part numbers haven’t you?

Maybe time for a sticky.

Thanks for the inputs. I think the service manager just blowing smoke.
