Is it possible to have the long strip of rain gutter trim above the doors on each side repaired?
After many visits to the car wash the hard plastic finish is chipping off. The vehicle is a 1997 Lexus 450 LX.

Could you prep it and then Plastic coat paint it black?
Just a thought.

or just rhino line the roof? I did it on mine even with the trim not breaking just yet.

Thanks for suggestions. The drip mold on both sides is chipping badly and looks horrible. I did a search on plastic coating and found a product called plasti dip at Eastwood.com. Does anyone have any suggestions about a good plastic coat paint?

Pretty sure you can still by it new - have you checked with your dealer.

those can be replaced with OEM.

Thanks everyone. I will check out the "new trim " option.

I asked beno about this some months ago and he stated that it would best be sourced locally, since shipping was difficult and hard on the trim.

Also, I've heard that the OE replacement product isn't the same material as the existing, for what that's worth.

I have been running without the gutter trim on my 80 for a year. If that look does not do it for you, then buy new (as noted) or you might consider simply removing and prepping/painting it with a high quality spray paint. Assuming the pink panty trim is the same as standard T, it does go off and on pretty easily. (IOW: it goes off and on easily enough that it would be sad to pay to have it "repaired.")

Thanks everyone. I will check out the "new trim " option.

If you are near Seattle I have some that came off my 94. They are in pretty good shape if I recall( haven't looked at them in a while).

This post without pics is a fail.

Ask and you shall...

Here is an older pic, from before I removed the roof rack. I removed the gutter trim to check for rust underneath, and to keep my Confer roof rack (used infrequently) from trashing the gutter trim. I then just never put the trim back on.

You can see on mine that the factory used the rain gutter as the mask line between the black and sage paint.
