Has anybody here done a 1uz-fe swap into their 40? I know this is a common swap for the ausies, just curious if anyone has detailed the swap here on MUD. I search but couldnt find anything.

Im asking because I came across a potential project 40, but would like some idea of what im getting myself into.

thanks all......

I've own a 40 with an F engine, a 40 with a 350 sbc, and an ls400 with the 4.0. The swap would have a definite cool factor, but I'd take the 350 chevy any day over the 4.0. The small v-8 just doesn't have the torque down low.

SBC would be a heck of lot easier to work on and much cheaper. If I ever get another 40 I would highly consider a 383 stroker.

One of the main reasons we have stuck with the GM V6/V8 engines over the Toyota V6/V8 engines for conversion purposes is because the Toyotas are not as powerful (short of installing $5000 worth of forced induction that generally melts-out their bottom-end). There are few if any "inexpensive" upgrades that will add 100 hp to the Toyota engine (if desired) as there is available for the GM engines. Additionally, most of the GM engines have considerably more low-end torque than the Toyota engines. Now go ahead and unload all the exceptions on me!!!!!

You will get no argument from me Jim. I have no doubt that a sbc would be cheaper, easier, faster, and better documented. I just like the idea of a unique build, especialy all toyota. Like I said earlier, this is a commn swap for the Aussies, so I have been able to do some reading up on it, I was just curious if anyone from mud had done this swap. At this point I'll assume "no" :)

What about a 2uz-fe? Anyone here stuffed one of those into a 40 yet?
