I have been looking at an 80 series land crusier...love everything about it except the fuel mileage....I need leg room...I see that a guy has a kit for the land crusier...so I was wondering if anyone has heard of a kit for a 96 and up 4 runner? If they make a kit...I might have to go that route...thanks in advance...Garth:)

a kit that will move the seat back 2-4 inches....I am 6'1" tall...there is not enough leg room.:D

???

I'm 6' and there is enough legroom for me. I know guys that are 6'3" and still have plenty of room.

You might try posting this in the proper section, there is one for '95+ trucks.

Just sayin...

KLF....WHERE!!!! Please tell us more!!!

It's in the right place now- Don't know why it was here- then moved to 120 section- but it's back. Maybe something to do with the latest software update.

i am 6 feet and fit just fine, should be plenty of room for you.

I'm 5'11, and while leg room was never an issue driving the '98, the door panel would push against my leg, and it was quite annoying. Im not very comfortable in that truck for long drives. My '85 and now my '86 Toyotas have been alot better fit for me.

I've never owned an 80, but have driven a few. I know I would rather have one over the 4runner for only a 3-4 mpg loss (in similar driving conditions). (13-15 in the 80, 17-19 in the 4runner)

TEPUI - Do you have a sunroof?

Yes I do, the top of my head is only 2 inches from the roof. I just got the 4runner two months ago and have not wheeled it on the sand dunes yet. I'm afraid my head will hit the roof on high speed sand dune bumps.

That sucks. I know the sunroof-less models have a bit more headroom. I guess you can always open it doing the high speed runs. :D

You won't have any leg room issues in the 4Runner. However, if you are on the big side, you might find the cockpit to be a little narrow for the upper body.

Well...I picked up my 96 runner...and I do want more leg room..."need"...well maybe not...but I want more if I can...so if anyone knows of a seat fix please let me know...thanks, Garth

I had a 2000 4x4 V6, moon roof with a manual....great truck. I am 6'4" with a 32" inseam and it lacked headroom. I had a local machine shop cut the postx off the back of the seat....also cut the front down over an inch....made me appreciate the truck once I fit.

I have a 32 inch in seam and fit alright.
Looking at my manual seat in my 96... there appears to be a few options.
1. refab all 4 unique mounting brackets and re-rivet them onto the tracks.
2. fab up some plates to allow moving the seat further back on the tracks. Also a remove and replace rivet task.
3. I wonder if Toyota ever made an electric drivers seat and if it would have a greater adjustable range rearward? Do any of the limited owners have an electric seat adjuster?
4. Revise the pedals although this doesn't look as though it will yield much more room.
5. Find some other seat tracks, the same width, and mount your seat and floor brackets onto them for more travel.
At any rate it doesn't look easy unless they made an electric track with greater adjustment and I'm not aware of a kit that exists.
After that all said it likely didn't help you any..sorry

Duane - I had a 98 Limited with the power seats and I can tell you that it offered no more room than my 02 Sport Edition. In fact, I think there was slightly less due to the thicker seats (leather). I know some guys have made custom brackets to allow more room. I think it's just all custom jobs.
