Did it and didn't like it.

I tried the superbright LED's in different "bulbs" the 20 and the 30 led. 30 will not fit in the housing unless you take apart it. The 20 was not nearly as bright as the incandessent that was OEM. I still have the led's taken out sitting on my toolbox. Just not nearly brightenough in a broad light pattern. More concentrated light thought with led's. I was not willing to risk my family in the cruiser with less light for stop and running light.

However pull your lense assembly and look to see if multiple bulbs would be better..

Bear80,

There are so many different LED bulbs out there 1156,1157 & 194.I myself like the LED very much its 10x brighter than regular stock bulb, Last time i found problem that after installed LED bulbs on my brake lights (1157) when i turn all the lights on ->brake light or step on the brake & turn signal @ same time my blinker (signal light) goes faster/blink faster than usual like broken bulb or short circut/something so because of that i decided not to have LED bulbs.
I spoke to few LED manufacturer and according to what they said some car need like capacitor to slow down blinker or something like that, I really dont know or maybe just my LC80 or hey you can try if it works well on your LC80, or maybe just my truck.

Good Luck~

I think it would fit as the tip/head does not look much/any wider than the conventional bulbs'. MHO

Please let us know if you decide to go that route.

Also others, not on this board I guess, have had good success with grafting/modifying big truck LED's, such as some of these, if you are kinda handy (no affiliation and stuff):

Let us know what you end up doing and how it turns out!

Good luck!

i tried some older style from superbright... not sure of the part number but they all faced straight back. a few days later i was pulled over for speeding and was told to put the old bulbs back in. the LEO said he could barely see them. when i installed them, it was at night so ofcourse they looked nice and pretty... i used to have a link to some place that sold the most amazing LED brake lights ive ever seen. they cost $48 bucks a pop but got rave reviews. looked like a well thought out design. i will do a quick search and see what i can find ...

i forgot to mention that the ones i tried were in a '01 tacoma (traded it for the LC and never looked back)

here is a link to the units i have always wanted to try. looks like the price has come down about half. hmmm. merry christmas to me ... merry chistmas to meeee

They are exactly what superbright carries, just alittle more and maybe alittle better build but I doubt the it's worth the price diff.

Jaysdead40 has some complete replacement LEDs in his 80. New housings with the LED bulbs. They are super bright. His lights must be at least 2 times as bright as my stock bulbs. I think he said they were $175. They do look a little BLING! But that has never bothered me.

I think for that price I'd like plain bulbs.....
I was thinking of taking my old housing and trying to mount my own leds, like 5 horizontal rows facing out and a few rows facing back towards the reflector...just an idea for now but I won't mind messing up my old housings.

I tried the superbrightled brand also and sent them back, they were wimpy. I am using the ledtronics ones now they do seem a little brighter, but probably not worth the three times price.
