The LEDs @Bomar recommended came in, and I installed the easier one. Even though the shop is lit up in the daytime, you can tell the LED high beams are significantly brighter / whiter than the incandescent high beams.

I'll install the other one tonight and get some better shots.

My impression: There is definitely a LOT more light with the LEDs, but due to the bulb design, there appears to be less "throw" than with the incandescents (they don't seem to project light as far ahead as the incandescents) They still light up signs a long way down the road, but just not in the same fashion as the OEM bulbs. Since I don't plan to run balls out at night, the lack of long-distance throw isn't a real negative. On the other hand, there's a good bit more light in the "usable" area in front of the truck. For the price, lower current draw, and instant-on capability over HIDs, I'm pleased.
 
I do a lot of night driving and my impression is pretty much the exact same as @dnp There is considerably less reach on the high beams, but much more usable close light. I have a 22" bar on my bumper and I find that if I need reach on the backroads that I frequent, then I just flip it on. It pushes way out. If you end up needing the extra reach for night driving, I would suggest a small 10"-20" spot bar to supplement. Not sure about local laws, but as long as I'm not blinding folks with it in town, I don't see it being an issue in the dead of night on a windy road in BFE.
 
Mine actually light road signs up at a considerable distance, but it's just a different perception of "throw" due to the big increase in light nearer the truck. They're plenty good for use as high beams, it's just that there's more flood effect closer to the vehicle.....which I really like. It's nice to see way down the road if you're at speed, but I prefer to have more light on objects I could potentially impact.

I haven't driven with them much yet, so if I develop a different opinion of them over time, I'll report back.
 
I ordered 2 $20 resistors today for the 60 to see if I can get these LEDs to work.

Also, one of my HID's on my 100 took a s*** today. Low beam. I moved the High beam HID bulb to the low beam spot and put an old yellow back in the high spot. The little cooling fan works, but the bulb went out.
 
Andy, I just ordered some, and I'll report back. Like Nolen said, an awful lot depends on the reflector shape and condition. In particular, the OEM 100 light assemblies seem to lose a lot of their reflective coating over time (yours probably a lot less than ours, due to yours being much newer and yours are also the newer housing design.)

Thanks for the link, John. I'll take photos of my lights (one is newer, one appears to be original, and the visual difference in the reflective coating is pronounced). Also, the bulbs will be here tomorrow, so I'll take some photos of the before and after light output (I'm not really crazy about the blueish color of a 6,000K bulb, but we'll see how they look. Right now, I have 4,300K HIDs in the low beams and halogen incandescent in the highs. The lows look perfect, color-wise and brightness, but when you turn on the highs, it looks like you turned on a bright light behind a yellow film.

What Part Number fits the 100?
 
I'm following this. I need brighter headlights. I've got the Roundeyes, which look cool, but aren't any brighter than stock.

I don't know about LEDs. I've never been in a vehicle equipped with LEDs at night to see how well they work.

On both of my FJ60s I'm using an ARB plug-n-play light harness, IPF or Bosch lenses, and Osram bulbs. This is a huge improvement over stock and the high beam indicator on the dash works. I've had Hella 500 fog and driving lights as supplementaries in the past and with this set-up no longer need the extra lights. Cost < $200 for harness, lenses, bulbs.
 
How would one, if so inclined, run power to a light bar on his new Prinsu rack? Just for future reference...
